Philippine women pay the ultimate price for working in Muslim countries

Whether they go overseas to work as maids or nurses, many are severely abused, some are murdered.

Almost 15 per cent of the Philippines’ adult population, about eight million people, live and work overseas. But the cost proves to be too high for some of the migrant workers that find themselves suffering the abuse at the hands of their employers in the Middle East. The wounds they suffer smell of the Muslim way of dealing with ‘misbehaving’ women – burns, acid attacks, etc.
