Lawsuit by CAIR in 5…4…3…2…
COURANT– A Windsor woman says she was told to remove or cover up her traditional Muslim head scarf during a visit to the Ron-A-Roll indoor skating rink this week.
Marisol Rodriguez-Colon and her sister-in-law were planning to attend a niece’s birthday party at Ron-A-Roll on Sunday. But once inside, Rodriguez-Colon said, they were stopped and told they would have to remove their head scarves because of a policy prohibiting headwear. The Ron-A-Roll employee, who identified herself as a manager, Rodriguez-Colon said, offered the women two options —either take off their scarves or wear a helmet over them. Rodriguez-Colon said she believes the policy is discriminatory.
“We couldn’t enter the facility because we had our scarves on,” said Rodriguez-Colon, who has worn the scarf, or hijab, for 16 years.
