Afghan woman choked to death by husband and mother-in-law for giving birth to a third daughter

UK DAILY MAIL (H/T Susan K) Mother-in-law Wali Hazrata is said to have tied the feet of 22-year-old Stori, which allowed the victim’s local militia member husband Sher Mohammad to strangle her. The two-month-old baby girl was not hurt in the incident, in the village of Mahfalay, in the north eastern Kunduz province’s Khanabad district, on Saturday.
The murdered woman’s husband has since fled, and Hazrata remains in custody. The husband is believed to be a fighter with an illegal armed militia, and local villagers said Stori often asked her him to lay down his weapons.
One neighbour said: ‘She lived in a hell not a house. But then she also asked her husband to stay home and avoid going out with these thugs.’
Afghan women’s rights activists highlighted the incident. Nadira Gya, director for Kunduz Women’s affairs, said: ‘It was a brutal crime committed against an innocent woman.’ Violence and abuse against women continues to be a major problem in Afghanistan, a decade after U.S.-led troops brought down the Taliban regime.
Last month, police found a teen bride who had been locked in a toilet for six months at her husband’s house in neighboring Baghlan province. She was burned and beaten, and had her fingernails pulled out.
British charity Oxfam said 87 per cent of Afghan women report having experienced physical, sexual or psychological violence or forced marriage.
Now, what were they saying about anyone speaking ugly things about them? No one has to say anything — they are their own WORST ADVERTISEMENT against Islam — the – ahhh — Peaceful people. Riiiiight.

Koran 4.34 does not limit punishment of women to beating, but merely says if a woman obeys after beating, to take no further action.
This admits that further action (such as burning, mutilation, death, etc.) is possible.
There is no limit to the abuse of ‘uppity’ women.

People have two paired chromosomes the help in determining sex. Women have two X chromosomes. Men have 1 X and 1 Y chromosome each. Each of us got one chromosome from mom and one from dad. It is random which one you get. Genetic roulette. Women are XX and men are XY. Since ONLY males can supply the Y chromosome, then the male is the one failing to do his duty. This family needs to remove themselves from the gene pool, and now.

In any event, new religions spring up to address severe social ills. But like a reed in the wind, they can become bent by the very vileness they repudiate and so the rag can seem indistinguishable from the filth.
For some reason, misogyny is resplendent in the world, from female infanticide to the clear fact that women only got the right to vote in the west generally in the last century.

George, you are in serious need of some REAL education vis-a-vis pisslam!! Granted, much mysogyny in the world is NOT confined to pisslam, but it is absolutely RAMPANT in the world of muzzie madness – and that crap is backed up by umpteen verses from the Qu’ran and the Hadith; whereas in the Christian world (Eastern Church, primarily) where some of this wretched behavior & attitude toward women still exists, it’s NOT backed by anything whatsoever in the Bible – primarily the New Testament. And where it exists and is spoken of in the Old Testament, even the most observant among Jews, it’s no longer followed or supported as an edict from God, but is relegated to that time in history (millenia ago) when these practices prevailed. At most, any references to what we now recognize as mysogyny are treated as parables and ancient historical models – NOT practices that we should even consider emulating today. IOW, pisslam has not yet had its own Reformation…

It is important to note that conflict (such as the cold war, tribal resource wars, etc.) often destroys the civility and justice within a society to leave in place fear and violence. This condition seems to be the typical legacy of oil rich, mineral rich, and/or strategically important regions like Arabia and Africa. Leaders that arise in such situations are either transformational or just one in a long line of despots.
Apart from the obvious insanity of this crime, what strikes me is the economics that may have made raising a daughter as oppose to a son so burdensome. Perhaps a dowry system is at the root of it. Whether you endow for the groom or endow for the bride, this financial obligation is cumbersome in a prideful society during economic chaos.

Let me introduce a concept that should not be foreign to the worldly members of this blog. It is a concept well known to peace officers the world over and tolerated with consternation to varying degrees by communities throughout history, even to the present.
The concept is domestic violence. The perpetrators may offer elaborate reasons and jump at the first perceived justification to feed their addiction. But any reason is merely an excuse to society or the victim. These dangerously unhealthy individuals occur in all faiths, societies, regions, and socio-economic conditions, I am told.
It is unfortunate the community could not have intervened. But, how common is that the case the world over. In addition, the existence of this thug gang the husband is part of suggests that the community have other problems. One might say they need help.
George, you can’t chalk this up to domestic violence any more than you can chalk up the Ft Hood massacre to workplace violence. Islam is responsible for both these incidents.
There is an old saying, “when you really want to do a thing, any reason is good enough.”
With a following of over 1 billion people of all ethnicity, it seems simplistic to think that Islam embraces the casual elimination of their women by their men or even that the faith is not offering substantial value. Death cults tend to be self-limiting.
A religion is an expression of an idea, a word, if you will. And therein lies the problem. Finding the right words to capture an idea is hard if not impossible. Overtime I’ve come to appreciate that we all have the same ideas and seek the same things; yet separated by different words, language, and points of reference. Perhaps that’s the fundamental premise of the bible, that the word had to be made flesh so as to be properly expressed.
Since I’ve drifted biblical, let me add this psalm and lament, “Destruction of the poor is in their poverty…” Why could this woman not leave that lethal situation?
