And this began well before the recent popular uprising. According to Ahmed Hassan, who works at the pyramids giving tours on camels, there are “No tourists, the tourists is afraid. No tourists, no work. We have waiting like more than two months, no work and the camels no food.”
At the Giza Pyramids, no foreign tourists were to be seen around noon on Sunday. Inflated prices were being charged at the entrance to make up for the decline in tourist activity. Many employees at Giza simply spent their day riding horses around the premises.
