What a surprise! The NYPD nabbed Mohammed Siddiquee, 27, as he waited to board a flight to Kuwait at Kennedy Airport on Tuesday night, where his final destination was Bangladesh. He said he tried to behead the landlord because he was mean to him.

NY Daily News via TMI (h/t Susan K) The Brooklyn tenant accused of butchering his landlord nearly chopped the man’s head off in a fit of rage because he felt the 57-year-old victim had “teased” him for being poor, police sources said on Wednesday. (Yeah, he probably asked him to pay his overdue rent)
Hours after the NYPD pulled off a nick-of-time arrest as Mohammed Siddiquee tried to flee the country, the suspect admitted to perpetrating the vicious killing of Mahuddin Mahmud. “Yes, I did it,” Mohammed Siddiquee, 27, said nervously when the Daily News asked if he was the culprit as cops hauled him out of a Brooklyn police station on Wednesday.
Siddiquee, 27, who lived in the basement of an apartment building in Kensington that Mahmud owned, was collared at Kennedy Airport at 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, just before he was to board a flight to Kuwait, police said. Siddiquee’s escape plan was to fly to Kuwait and then hop a plane bound for his native Bangladesh, police sources said.
When cops nabbed him, he told officers that Mahmud had “humiliated and teased” him because he didn’t have a lot of money, the sources said. Investigators were able to track him down in time because Siddiquee used his own credit card to purchase the plane ticket, the sources said.
Cops charged Siddiquee with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
Mahmud’s family members found his body early Tuesday in a basement apartment that he used as an office in the building, located on McDonald Ave. near Avenue C. His throat had been slashed so deeply that his head was nearly severed from his body, police sources said. He had also suffered burns to his face.
