Agema made this appropriate remark in reference to recent news that Islamic State (ISIS) jihadists were using ex-Iraqi Air Force pilots to train them in how to fly Russian MIG fighter jets which ISIS had stolen from Syria. Agema’s benign remark on Facebook was:
“I wouldn’t be too concerned over this. American or Israeli fighter pilots could take all of these out in a single day. We had a saying in the Air Force that camel jockeys don’t make good fighter pilots and the Israelis proved this to be accurate.”
CAIR The Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MI) today called on Michigan Governor Rick Snyder to condemn the most recent racist remark by a state GOP official on social media. Michigan Republic National Committee Dave Agema recently referred to Arabs as “camel jockeys“ on his Facebook page.
Earlier this year, RNC Chairman Reince Priebus and state GOP Chairman Bobby Schostak both condemned Agema for his bigoted comments. But Governor Snyder has yet to repudiate Agema by name for his efforts to marginalize Arabs, Muslims and immigrants.
“We call on Governor Snyder to condemn Agema’s latest racist remarks,” said CAIR-MI Executive Director Dawud Walid. “As the symbolic leader of the GOP in the state, the governor’s failure to condemn Mr. Agema by name for his racist (what ‘race’ is Islam?) comments gives many in the Muslim and Arab community the impression that he silently approves the comments.” (Hopefully he does)
Walid also mentioned that a series of racist comments coming from members of the GOP nationwide may influence how American Muslims vote in the upcoming midterm election. (Who cares?)
