Arab Christians, accused of being Israeli collaborators, must clear out of Jerusalem or face a massacre once Ramadan is over, according to a leaflet allegedly distributed in several locations by ‘Islamic State, Jerusalem Emirate.’ Muslims in Jerusalem have been mandated by ISIS to kill any Christians who refuse to leave.
Haaretz After greeting Muslims for Ramadan, the leaflet promises ISIS will cleanse the city from Christians, calling them agents of Israel and the West. The leaflet also said the group knows where most of the city’s Christians reside.
“We tell the heretic Christians, you must clear out immediately or we’ll massacre you on Eid al-Fitr, marking the end of Ramadan, and one month is time enough to evacuate,” said the leaflet. The leaflet is signed: “Islamic State, Jerusalem Emirate.”
Latin Patriarch Michel Sabbah and Bishop Atallah Hanna from the Orthodox Church responded to the leaflet, saying nothing will scare Christians away from their lands or from Jerusalem.
Sabah doubted that the leaflet was issued by ISIS, and said it may be an attempt to divert public attention from the torching of the Tabgha church earlier this month.
