When she was designated terrorist group CAIR’s-backed candidate for Congress, Regina Mustafa quit her campaign after receiving a death threat on Facebook last year. Now that she is running for Mayor of Rochester, again backed by CAIR, she claims to have received a threat – “Execute all Muslims in America” – on her Google Plus social media webpage. So will she hightail it out of this race and drop out again? One can only hope.
StarTribune A female convert to Islam running for mayor in Rochester said someone left a crude anti-Muslim comment on her personal webpage Sunday night. Regina Mustafa, who is among several people hoping to replace outgoing Mayor Ardell Brede, said the anonymous threat was made by someone posting as “Militia Movement,” and the comment said “EXECUTE all muslims in America.”
“I have no way of knowing if the person is nearby or across the country,” said Mustafa. “These threats do have to be taken seriously.”
Mustafa said the threat was left on a Google Plus posting she made last summer that includes a photo of her speaking at Peace Plaza in downtown Rochester. She reported it to the Rochester Police Department.
The Minnesota chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations also asked law enforcement to investigate, saying American Muslims have been subject to an “unprecedented spike in hate incidents” since the election of President Donald Trump. The FBI’s most recent bias crime report showed an increase in such crimes nationwide in 2016.
Mustafa, who wears a hijab, said she mostly feels welcome in Rochester, despite occasional confrontations with strangers. She’s had people shout at her from passing cars, and a man walked up to her at a Caribou Coffee last year while she sat with her grade-school-aged children and told her to “go home,” she said.
Mustafa said she was also subjected to a death threat after announcing a bid for Congress last fall. A Michigan man who made an online death threat against her was later identified by the FBI and Mustafa has asked that criminal charges be filed against him. Mustafa said she dropped out of the congressional race after two months.
BlueStemPrairie Mustafa has also called for Phillip Parrish, a Republican candidate for governor in Minnesota to leave the race because he recently refused to meet with her, saying that “Islam is ultimately not a faith.” “I separate Islam from the word faith because faith takes belief and Islam requires only submission. I will not participate in any faith dialog because Islam is ultimately not a faith,” Parrish said.
Mustafa had requested a meeting after Parrish attended a presentation by highly respected Coptic Christian and outspoken critic of Islam, Usama Dakdok.
Rochester resident Regina Mustafa, founder of Community Interfaith Dialogue on Islam (CIDI), recently reached out to Phillip Parrish, a candidate for the Republican nomination for governor, to arrange a a meeting to discuss Islam. Mr. Parrish responded with a shocking diatribe that establishes his lack of fitness for any elected office. He refused to meet with Ms. Mustafa unless she would “discuss and accept these truths”: that Islam is not a faith and that “Islam, Sharia and the Quran are the antithesis of the U.S. Constitution.” Parrish said he would call on Mustafa to “publicly denounce Sharia and swear to adhere to, protect, comply with, accept, and defend the United States Constitution.”
I will however talk about law, United States Law, and the Constitution. I will be asking you if you are willing to publicly denounce Sharia and swear to adhere to, protect, comply with, accept, and defend the United States Constitution. Sadly, if you are a “practicing Islamist” you will most likely not agree to such a stance which is why the conversation will most likely end before it begins.
The whole point of America is you are free to believe what you freely choose to believe regarding your personal faith which requires belief. Our Constitution and the law of the land allows you and all other persons the freedom to believe. It does not provide for nor allow you or anyone else to set up and practice law of any kind that is the antithesis of the U.S. Constitution and our rule of law. Islam, Sharia, and the Quran are the antithesis of the U.S. Constitution. It is not compatible with nor any version of it will ever be compatible with our Constitution.
In a public appearance on Minnesota podcast “Up and at ‘Em” last November, Parrish said, “In one who practices Islam, there is no separation of civilian law from a theocracy.” He told the hosts that Islam in America represents “a violent, dishonest abusive culture that is getting a pass.”
