It wasn’t that long ago when a company putting false claims in their advertisements, would get fined and reprimanded for deceiving the public. Now, Muslims are running a billboard campaign in Chicago to convince the public that Islamic supremacist headbags represent “honor, chastity, and respect – NOT subjugation.”
CBS A billboard campaign seeks to educate Chicago-area drivers about a misogynistic, Islamic supremacist garment that many Muslim women are forced to wear.
For six weeks, billboards along the Tri-State Tollway and I-55 will feature women wearing the hijab, a headbag-like garment covering the head and chest.
Dr. Sabeel Amhed of the group Gain Peace hopes the billboards will reverse negative stereotypes he says some people have about the hijab. (Only people who are ignorant about Islam)
He says the clothing article represents honor, chastity and respect. (In reality, it represents the oppression of women by Muslim men and designed to prevent Muslim women from assimilating into Western societies).
Ahmed says the billboards also connect the hijab with clothing worn by the Virgin Mary, as a way to show the virtue of the hijab. (In other words, Islam and Christianity are twins?)
NY Times According to Asra Q. Nomani, a former Wall Street Journal reporter, who is co-founder of the Muslim Reform Movement says: well-intentioned women perpetuate a lethal global war of ideas sexually objectifying women and absolving men of personal responsibility.
A symbol of a dangerous purity culture, obsessed with honor and virginity, the hijab has divided Muslim communities in their own civil war, or fitna, since the Saudi and Iranian regimes promulgated fundamentalist policies of Sunni and Shia Islam, after the 1970s Saudi oil boom and the 1979 Iranian Revolution.
In the eight times the word hijab, or a derivative, appears in the Koran, it means a “barrier” or “curtain.”
Today, Today, Muslim women are wearing headscarves in interfaith “solidarity.” But they are standing on the wrong side of a lethal war of ideas that sexually objectifies women as vessels for honor and temptation, absolving men of personal responsibility.
This purity culture covers, segregates, subordinates, silences, jails and kills women and girls around the world.
Recently, in Bareilly, India, a father killed his daughter, 4, smashing her head against the floor when her scarf slipped from her head during dinner.
In Ontario, a few years ago, a man strangled his 16-year-old sister when she defied their father, including by refusing to cover her hair.
In November, a former University of Missouri instructor dragged a female relative,14, out of school “by the hair” when he discovered she hadn’t covered her hair.
Today, in Iran, friends of the journalist Masih Alinejad dodge batons as they shoot photos of themselves, hair bare, in a campaign Alinejad started, called #MyStealthyFreedom, to protest Iran’s mandatory headscarf law.
Muslim women in the West who advocate against the hijab, are subjected to verbal abuse from American Muslim leaders and academics, calling them “despicable,” “clinically delusional,” “Satan” and “dajjal,” the Muslim equivalent of anti-Christ. And they are often ‘honor’ killed by family member.
Iranian female ‘modesty’ police harass women in the street for not wearing hijabs or not wearing them properly.
One gutsy Iranian woman who refused to wear any hijab at all punches and kicks one of the female modesty police.
