United with Israel If there were a prize for epic boycott fails, Qatar would win it. The Qatari debate team tried to boycott Israel, but ended up getting BDS (Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions of Israel) banned from European debates. Ultimately, two Israeli teams topped the European Universities Debating Championship in Serbia, in which a total of 187 teams from 30 countries within and surrounding Europe were competing against each other.
26 nations voted unanimously to uphold Israel’s proposal against boycotts based on nationality at European champuinships. Any country refusing to sign the pledge will not be allowed to compete. (Something like this should be passed for the Olympics as well as other international sporting competitions)
