I have worked and moved among these people. I have personally trained their military forces. I have eaten in their shops and been invited to and entertained in their homes.Their desperation has little to do with U.S. policy and much to do with what occurs when the utterly repressed are tainted by a glimmer of the hope the outside world has to offer. These women see or soldiers maneuver through an area and if they were faceless there would be no way to distinguish the male from the female soldier. They see and comprehend the equality and respect among U.S. service members and desire to have it. It is not our God or our affluence it is simple equality of a local and cultural type they yearn for.
