Robert De Niro, renowned American actor, arrived in Israel on June 17th to attend the Israeli Presidential Conference and take part in President Shimon Peres’ 90th birthday celebrations.
Israel Today Robert De Niro spoke at the annual President’s Conference in Jerusalem. A veteran of many “tough guy” movie roles, De Niro said he had a lot of admiration for the aggressive “tough guy” Israeli character.
“Israelis are warm, they’re energetic people. Forthright. Very smart. I always like smart people. They’re nice people, you know. Aggressive, and I respect that aggressiveness because you need it in their situation,” he said.
De Niro is one of only many international celebrities and political figures attending the “Tomorrow” presidential conference, an annual gathering started by Israeli President Shimon Peres several years ago.
On Thursday, the last day of the conference, the podium was dominated by the CEOs of the world’s technology and communications giants, who all unanimously crowned Israel as the most innovative hi-tech nation on earth.
The star-studded turn-out at the conference was seen locally as a major defeat for the anti-Israel Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, which aims to put pressure on Israel to surrender to Arab demands by getting a-listers like De Niro to shun the Jewish state.
IsraellyCool Obviously, this should put to rest the slanderous rumor the Left has put out about DeNiro’s alleged disdain for the Jewish state. Israel haters have claimed the following for a while, yet no-one has ever been able to find this supposed interview.
According to the Left, ‘There was an interview on Fox News with Robert De Niro as the guest. The host asked Robert about events related to Gaza. Robert replied: “Why do we blame Israel or the Israelis for what they do?” The host was shocked because he knows that De Niro is always declaring his sympathy with Palestine.
De Niro looked at the host and saw his confusion…..…so he continued: “Ok let me explain, if you were bitten by a mad infected dog, who will you blame? the dog or its owner? Definitely the owner, so, all the blame is on the USA Government’s shoulders for adopting and supporting a state like Israel”
