But one serving officer said today Trump had ‘pointed out something plainly obvious, something which I think we aren’t as a nation willing to own up to.’
Another policeman said that he and other colleagues fear being terror targets and spoke of the ‘dire warning’ from bosses not to wear a uniform ‘even in my own car’.
It came as more than 250,000 people – seven people every second – signed a petition demanding Mr Trump is banned from Britain for being a ‘hate preacher’ – an idea rejected by Chancellor George Osborne.

One thing you could do would be to ease the immigration laws not for Middle Easterners and such, but for people of English descent. This might help re-balance things. However, as your immigration laws are written now, even though my grandmother was born in England, I have no viable path to citizenship there, and I am quite proud of my English ancestry. In Ireland, you can immigrate easily if your grandparents were Irish. I would like to return to my ancestral homeland, especially now. It’s not too late to make some adjustments.

I have a friend in poor health who lived in Hillerød Denmark for 30 years. He used the ambulance services occasionally. A few years ago a British politician walked with colleagues through a part of London, I believe Tower Hamlets. He was accosted by a Muslim bully who told him to get out as it was a ‘Muslim area’.
The thug was arrested and, I think, received a prison sentence.

Police accompanied him and then a man who had been walking beside the group jumped up and hit Tommy Robinson. The police arrested Tommy and he was bundled into a police van. I believe he was accused of causing a disturbance but there is a video showing clearly that Tommy did nothing apart from walking in a Muslim area.
The perpetrator was revealed as a police informer and was not charged with the assault.
