Excuse me? It is New Yorkers who are in need of protection from the Muslim population in NYC. Thanks to Commie Mayor Bill deBlasio, all of former Mayors Rudy Giuliani’s and Michael Bloomberg’s effective counter-terrorism programs which included 24/7 surveillance of mosques, Muslims, and Muslim businesses, have all been scrapped.
NY Daily News A proposed deal intended to protect New York City’s Muslim community from surveillance might be too weak to work, advocates argued Tuesday during a hearing on a recent settlement.
The NYPD agreed in January to reforms that would prevent the department from conducting broad surveillance of Muslims, such as by forbidding investigations where race, religion, or ethnicity is a main motivating factor.
The proposed settlement would also create a civilian representative position in the NYPD “to act as a check on investigations involving political or religious activity,” according to the New York Civil Liberties Union.
Afaf Nasher, who chairs the Council on American-Islamic Relations of New York, voiced many concerns about the civilian representative during the Manhattan federal court hearing.
The civilian rep will serve on a monitoring board with 11 NYPD members and will be appointed by the mayor, putting to question his or her power and independence, she said.
“It seems to me that the cards are highly stacked against the civilian representative — except this is not a game,” Nasher said.
How about some protection against Muslims lifting their asses to Allah in the middle of the streets in midtown Manhattan?
