So many of my delusional friends make fun of me when I tell them I get most of my news from the internet…for this very reason…if something is found to be bullshit, it is exposed almost instantly..{MOST of the time…}
About 4 weeks ago, 4 of my friends, who razz the shit outta me for supporting Trump, all heard and saw the same “news release” about Trump stating the following:
“How Canada and Mexico had been part of the U.S. and the U.S. let them become independent countries, but when he wins the election, he’s going to take Canada back, because it belonged to the U.S. a thousand years ago…but he didn’t want Mexico…”
They swore they saw him say this on the CBC, I believe, and gave it to me good about how “stupid and ignorant” Trump was that he actually BELIEVED this gibberish…
Now I like Trump, and with apologies to my good American brethren who sometimes show honest ignorance about Canada and Mexico, and I know he has made a few gaffs…but I had a hard time imagining a man like Trump would be this blatantly ignorant and stupid about North American politics and geography.
Well, I immediately went to the internet to verify/refute said story, and instantly found it to be a hoax article from a Canadian satirical website in Vancouver…like “The Onion”…
I IMMEDIATELY emailed these people, sending them the link…proving it was a hoax, and giving them a good dose of their own caustic bullshit…
Meekness, silence and chagrin was the response…

Amboy, thanks but it was my own fault. I didn’t do the due diligence I usually do on most stories by checking it out with other sources because I was so excited to see one of my T-shirts on a celebrity. Then I went out for a few hours and when I came back, several BNI readers had reported the hoax. My bad.
Admittedly, due to the kind of stories I post, a lot of them do not have multiple sources because no one in the MSM will publish them and because some are translations from foreign languages, so I have to rely on instinct and the facts as I know them from previous similar stories to judge whether they are post-worthy or not.
I don’t always get it right, but I try my best.

Actually “the Fourteenth Colony” (Canada) came very close to being the USA during the Revolutionary War. And many Canadians, I’m sure, feel that given the current Muslim-loving prime minister Trudeau, it’s a damn shame the US didn’t succeed. Having Trump as their President would be awesome for the Canadians who aren’t socialists (there are a few).
Trudeau is -quietly – having a man in Saskatchewan charged with making online death threats against him even though there doesn’t seem to be any evidence of this. Coincidentally this same man is anti-Muslim and pro-Trump.

The trouble with Canada, IMNSHO, is that we, as a nation, live in a dream world, hoping that if we cuddle up to vermin and treat them with loving kindness, they will respond in kind.

Whoever did this must really hate them for good reason. Crap, like this, could be career-ending. Frankly, I couldn’t care less.
Don’t think it would necessarily be career ending. I can only gauge by the response I get when I take my truck out. It is plastered with anti-Hillary, anti- Obama and anti-islam statements. I literally have people who follow me off the freeway into parking lots, come into stores looking for me, wait where it’s parked etc. just to meet me, shake my hand and voice their agreement. This past weekend an elderly woman was walking around it with her walker. She was with her daughter grocery shopping and they waited in the parking lot for me to come out, just to meet me and say “Thank you.” I even have BNI’s web address on it.
All of that and I’ve only had two negatives. One was a homeless man who asked,”What’s so bad about Hillary?” I educated him. The other was a Sac PD Officer who followed me into the gas station and tried to school me. Told me I shouldn’t have that on my truck because I was “asking for trouble.” I educated him too. Basically said that if we remain silent, we’re asking for worse! Was pretty pissed that law enforcement thought he could intimidate me, but there’s a few in every crowd. I won’t be silenced! I won’t be intimidated. There are more people who agree with us than you think. Most aren’t plastering signs on their vehicles, they’re silent partners.
We’ve got the west coast Hollyweird bubble and the beltway bubble in DC and it’s immediate surrounding districts, but they are NOT true everyday Americans.
