She was so right and indeed. my leaving Britain, land of my birth was due to exactly that – Socialism being forced down our throats in the 1970s by the British Labour Party under the influence of actual Communists in their ranks and in fact bringing the country to economic ruin at that time.
I see in Britain they are flirting once again with this dreadful and outdated ideology when I see the Labour Party once again increasing in popularity under the ‘Hard-Leftist’ Jeremy Corbyn!

Yeah… I was born (in 1957) and raised in a commie country. My grandpa had an idea, an innovation before the commie system started in 1945, so he asked his boss how much would he pay him if his innovation will save the boss millions in a year. It worked and from his reward he was able to open a business and buy a house. Later, during the commie years he had an idea again and he went to see the commie boss how much he would offer. The commie boss he will think about it. The following night he was arrested and beaten until he told what his idea was.
That’s how socialists, communists make sure that nobody gives a shit about anything and anyone who can leaves the country.
People often forget that old adage, “Nothing is ever free.” or “There is no free lunch.” If you get something for free, you can be sure that somebody else is paying for it.
One of the major flaws of a socialized economy is that all the supposedly free things have to get paid for somehow. And nobody ever mentions how it is supposed to be paid for. Thus “free” healthcare has to be paid for by the state, which in turn raises revenue by taxation. “Free” transportation is paid for by the state, which, again has to be supported by taxes. And this applies to everything else.
Communism and its relative Socialism have some good points, such as the idea of share and share alike. And to spread some of the collective wealth around. And it all sounds good on paper. And true Communism actually does work in small communities, i.e. communes, hence the name “Communism,” where individuals work together and share in all the resources. Primitive hunting and gathering societies lived for thousands of years in exactly this way. But it fails in the large scale with large populations of human beings. When you deal with large populations, a government is then needed to regulate and control the distribution of wealth, this form of Communism is called “Socialism.” And its fatal flaw is that it fails to take into account human nature and the benefits of competition for goods and services and incentives provided by competition and personal gain. It simply doesn’t take the real world into account. It is an ideal that doesn’t work in the real world. And, of course, Socialism also fails because governments are notoriously inept and incompetent at managing wealth and practically everything else.
Combine this with a bunch of religious maniacs who believe that everything should be handed to them as Allah’s provision for them, and you can see a clear recipe for disaster.

I used to do Special Events @ Costco. I had met a family from Denmark. They had told me how bad healthcare and living expenses were to deal with. I knew when Obamacare was unleased the USA was going down hill.
I had heard the suicide rate in Scandinavia is high, didn’t know this was the reason. Socialism stifles drive & innovation. Giving away so much of what you’ve worked for & not calling things your own (and of course not owning self-defense weapons or free speech) is a form of slavery.
This really lays out just how damn depressing communism is. I knew it was very scary, but it’s filled with so many sad people. Sad as our potus likes to say.
