A political appointee at the Department of Health and Human Services is now back at work at the department after it came to light that she called Islam a “cult” and shared an image that said “our forefathers would have hung” Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton for treason on social media – all before she joined the Trump team.
Gateway Pundit Barreto has been subjected to a lengthy smear and harassment campaign lead by CNN’s Andrew Kaczynski. The liberal political commentator has been echoing various left-wing organizations that are seemingly targeting pro-Trump appointees one-by-one.
CNN Ximena Barreto is a political pundit who joined the Trump administration as deputy director of communications at HHS in December. She was placed on leave by the department in April after the George Soros-funded, far-left watchdog “Media Matters” reported that Barreto called Islam “a cult” and pushed the Pizzagate conspiracy theory, which claims that Clinton is part of a child-sex ring based at a Washington, DC, pizza restaurant.
A subsequent CNN KFile review of her Twitter account “RepublicanChick” found that Barreto also repeatedly used the hashtag #BanIslam and shared conspiracy theories about the death (murder) of Democratic National Committee staffer Seth Rich.
Gateway Pundit Kaczynski even implied that Barreto is anti-Semitic — despite the fact that she actually has “Stand with Israel” in her Twitter bio.
Barreto had worked tirelessly during the campaign to reach out to Latino and Hispanic voters. She set up events, held rallies, did media coordination in Southern California and acted as a surrogate.
After it was revealed that she had been given a position for her fantastic work during the campaign, liberal organizations including David Brock’s American Bridge opposition research firm scoured Barreto’s social media for anything that could be used to claim she is racist, though she herself is an immigrant.
This level of harassment has not been seen with any other appointees for previous administrations. Following the hit piece from Media Matters, the young mother received countless death threats during this time.
