EUROPEAN UNION Copyright directive could destroy the internet as we know it
The new EU copyright and even more privacy law is so out of touch that it has the potential of shutting down companies doing direct customer sales. Virtually ALL company websites had to be altered and violation can result in a 20 million Euros fine or 4% of annual sales.
And all this because one (German, I think) EU bureaucrat thought he had to reinvent privacy and launched this lunatic initiative.
I thought the same…this all to control the dissemination of the news the European elites don’t want the people to know…and facilitate even more the islamization of EURABIA.
This poorly written and ill informed law will affect big businesses too. And when big businesses are affected by the law and it costs them huge amounts of money, the law will be changed or repealed.
Big businesses and organizations both depend on and utilize copyrights and trademarks more than anybody else. And there is big money at stake. If a corporation employs fair use rules to, let’s say, parody or lampoon a famous movie or favorite commercial for an advertisement, and the corporation gets sued by another corporation for a copyright infringement for millions or billions of dollars, you can be sure that corporations are going to rise up if they can’t employ satire, parody, lampoon because it infringes someone’s copyright. Trademark and copyright restrictions will have to be managed carefully to protect fair use and other legitimate copyright and trademark uses.
As for the internet, I doubt it will affect the internet much. The internet is so huge that it can’t really be controlled by any person, entity or group. Keep in mind that the internet includes the deep web, of billions of web sites and pages — even long deleted material that survives on someone’s server somewhere in the world. The deep web is a huge wilderness. And the internet is not the only web either. There are millions of WANs (Wide Area Networks) and LANs (Local Area Networks). So regulating the internet is like trying to regulate the ocean. Governments have tried and failed. And the more governments try to implement controls, the more people find ways around them. Just ask Iran and China, how their web censorship program is going. The governments of these countries have huge inbound and outbound firewalls and people still find ways around them.
I am getting sued right now for a photo I posted from Google images 2 months ago that unbeknownst to me had a copyright on it. (There was nothing on the photo to indicate a copyright) As soon as the copyright holder contacted me I deleted the photo. But they claim there could be long term damages or something like that and they are demanding I pay them for the use or they will take me to court.
In 10 years, I’ve had a handful of companies contact me about a photo I had on the blog that they wanted me to take down, which I did immediately. They said thank you and that was it.
Yes, they have a screen shot. As I said before, when this happened in the past, I deleted the photo immediately, and that was it. They always thanked me for the prompt response.
Most images and artwork you find on the internet, unless in the public domain, are copyrighted. And it doesn’t matter whether there is a copyright notice on the image or not. In the US, a work of art is copyrighted technically the moment it is created, and fixed in tangible form. A work can then be registered with the US copyright office. But it need not be registered to be copyrighted.
You have to be very careful how you use images or any created medium you find on the internet. If you copy and use photographs for personal use, there is not much anybody can do (even though it is technically illegal in many cases), but if you use a copyrighted image publicly such as on this forum, the owner can, and indeed has, come after you.
Best wishes on your lawsuit. The ruling will not be much in their favor. They would have to prove that there would be long term damages from your use of the photo, which would be almost impossible to prove. (How do you prove the long term consequences of the use of a photo?) The only thing they can prove is infringement; that you used their copyrighted photo publicly without their permission. You might have to pay a fine or a royalty fee for your use of the image, but that will be about it. You are not a large company, so they can’t draw blood from a turnip.
Thanks Steve. Then those images should not be available on Google Images. They now say that any photo might be copyrighted
but they didn’t do that before.
It sounds like a trap. Google and social medias tend to punish conservative materials…I notice Daily Mail , and other sites don’t allow comments when it has to do with muslim crimes or certain protected people..or when the person’s comments don’t
fit their mold .DM sends email informing the person’s comment was offensive….
MTM, I heard that, but find it strange as the DM was always the one publication that published the truth about Muslim crap. But lately I notice they are blurring the faces of Muslim criminals in reports.
I dont care I think its a laugh. Like the arrest of Tommy theyre just hastening their own demise as people get right royally fed up with them. As my father says once people get going the tide will be so strong even they wont be able to stop it. Bring it on, a clean out is long overdue
Next up: listening devices in all homes so the government(s) can have people arrested for speaking their minds within the non-public confines of their own homes and/or private property.
In the US the right to free speech isn’t guaranteed on private property, but the owner(s) of private property can choose to allow people to say anything they want. Internet sites are private property unless they are owned by a publicly traded company, like Google or Yahoo.
There were many comments I posted on twitter that simply vanished. Then for a short time I didnt log on..Now the censorship seems to have subsided. Tyrants always stumble over their own ignorance. But this is a world war with the death toll mounting. The Lord uses the cruel and ignorant. Remember when Christ was crucified? Pilate and the conspirators, including Judas all thought it was their idea, that they were in control. Satan, a real angel, must have thought that like with Job, he had the upper hand…But now, Gods word is all over the planet..Everytime a petty tyrant, like Clinton gets some kind of apparent success, it is ONLY that, an apparent success. Psalm 2 is incredibly right on.. Keep up the good work, BNI’rs. Press on!
If it’s not one damn thing, it’s another. Another attempt to silence us. Everybody needs to push against this as much as they can. The US will be the last hold out
This is bull, In the U.S. we don’t have to follow anything the EU or the UN says.
If it were true we would be following the small arms treaty laws that the EU and NATO and the UN passed saying that all Americans have to give up their guns. Don’t take my word for it. look it up for yourself.
When we see this beginning – globalised filtering of all internet content – and when we see what is going on in England re. destruction of freedom of speech then we know that the ‘off-the-wall’ conspiracy theorists who have been shouting about “one world government” are very likely absolutely correct.
This move if successful to stop all material which is deemed “copyrighted” will stop all online communications other than the most innocuous – even for example this post which I am writing will presumably be subject to filtering.
Such a filtering system, since it will be machine-operated will be easy to abuse. For example it could be used, not to detect copyrighted material only but also any material containing anything deemed unacceptable by the programmers, working under orders.
This is Orwellian to the nth degree and should be fought worldwide and on a globalised platform.
I do not like it when certain groups decide what we can see and hear in the way of information. This appears to be another attempt to manipulate and control people by controlling what we can see and hear on the internet.
All it is, is the setting up of the OWO it’s going to happen and a lot sooner than allmost anyone realizes. Its just 1984 a little bit late. Big Bro. Gonna control how deep a breath you can take but that’s ok I won’t be here. Can anyone say rapture!!!
Are you kidding me?!?! What does it mean to BNI? I don’t think you are obligated to follow EU’s new copyright law as long as you’re in the United States. Am I right? I am no attorney but that’s how I looked at it. EU is not the government of the world. But they sure act like they are.
HEY BNI Just tried a post and came up as a invalid security token , iT IS CALLED SUPPRESED SPEACH BY USING SMOKE AND MIRROWS ,Never thought I would see this in my life as has happened a few times to myself now ,, AUSTRALIAS internet is now being watched but by whom and why ,
I think it would effect many in the US. As for me, I often watch videos and read blogs from people in EU countries to keep abreast of the REAL events going on. So yes, it is going to have a very wide and lasting effect on those of us here. At least, that’s how I see it.
It can and does affect the US. I am daily getting updates from apps and services I use telling me how they are complying with article 13. If you want to do biz in the EU they will be compiling info on you and everything you do better be in strict PC compliance or you will be reported to your local democrat headquarters to be dealt with via lawsuits and who knows what. Big brother is watching us all now

Main stream media is corrupt.
Example: main stream media was supporting Hillary ( the most corrupt)
Social media,
Individual blood
Are the one that brings truth that’s happening inside Sweden to put side world.
Eu wants to make sure that truth is suppressed

I am so sorry to hear that BNI. Hopefully, no copyright notice on the photo will act in your favor, or they’re just trying to scare you.
In 10 years, I’ve had a handful of companies contact me about a photo I had on the blog that they wanted me to take down, which I did immediately. They said thank you and that was it.
Im okay with computers in everyday usage,
Not great with coding.
Can they prove that u had the image on a particular webpage after u had deleted the image from that webpage?
Just wondering.
Even if they have screenshot,
Photoshoping is so easy isnt it?
Yes, they have a screen shot. As I said before, when this happened in the past, I deleted the photo immediately, and that was it. They always thanked me for the prompt response.

What a huge pain in the ass! How will you know what images you can post?
No way to know.

In simple terms, extortion.

AM, yes, that’s true. It can only get worse from here on.
The totalitarians aka socialists/ communista are getting more powerful. Not good news. May God protect us all and Trump.
