President Trump has already cut a substantial portion of the yearly $368 million dollars it had been throwing away on UN-Palestinian welfare group, UNRWA, that paid for schools in Gaza to teach students to hate Jews. Trump has also cut tens of millions in direct US funding to the Palestinian Authority because they were using it to reward terrorists who kill Israelis and support their families for life if they die or go to prison.
Breitbart The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) only has enough cash to keep its schools and medical services open until May, its commissioner-general Pierre Krahenbuhl said. “Last year, the US provided $364m. This year it has announced only $60m,” Krahenbuhl told the Guardian. He added that “this is the biggest and most severe” crisis in the agency’s history.
UNRWA has also come under fire on many occasions both for spreading anti-Semitic hate in its schools and for employing members of terror organizations and supporters of terror. In February, UN Watch released an 130-page report exposing 40 UNRWA school employees in Gaza and elsewhere who engaged in incitement to terror against Israelis and expressed “anti-Semitism, including by posting Holocaust-denying videos and pictures celebrating Hitler.”
The UN itself released a report in 2015 that found Palestinian terror groups used three empty UN-run schools in Gaza as a weapons cache. Moreover, it said that in at least two cases terrorists “probably” fired rockets at Israel from the schools during the 50-day summer conflict in 2014 between Israel and Hamas.
INN After cutting off hundreds of millions of dollars in direct U.S. financial aid to the Palestinians, Donald Trump froze an additional $125 million to UNRWA.
Trump said the US pays the Palestinians “HUNDRED OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS a year and get no appreciation or respect. They don’t even want to negotiate a long overdue peace treaty with Israel … with the Palestinians no longer willing to talk peace, why should we make any of these massive future payments to them?”
The amount frozen is one-third of the annual funding the United States provides the organization, according to the report. The US is UNRWA’s single largest donor — it donated $368 million to the agency in 2016 alone — and a withdrawal of US support could deal a significant blow to its operations.
According to the diplomats, officials in the administration have informed UN officials in the past two days that President Donald Trump is considering cutting this amount completely and could even increase the cut to $180 million, which would be half the total U.S. funding for UNRWA.
For years, UNRWA has been a target for criticism in light of Hamas’s activity in its educational institutions and the use of its facilities by Palestinian Arab terrorist organizations in Gaza.
UNRWA was documented storing Hamas rockets and weapons “designed to kill Israeli citizens” in its schools, a fact which the UNRWA chief admitted himself. In addition, the organization has actively taken part in inciting anti-Semitic violence.
