The award will honor a Muslim in America who has demonstrated “exemplary service to the country and the community” at the local or national level over the last year by “inspiring and empowering.”
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is seeking nominations for the annual “American Muslim of the Year” award to be presented at its 24th annual banquet October 20 at the Crystal Gateway Marriott in Arlington, Va., alongside speakers such as Abdul El-Sayed, Aisha al-Adawiya and Khaled Beydoun.
To be eligible to receive the award, the nominee must also reside in the United States and be able to attend the banquet. Nominations must be submitted by 5 p.m. (Eastern), October 5, 2018. Three finalists will be announced on October 8th and the public will be invited to vote for the winner between October 9-12, 2018.
