Toronto’s shelters are full, not with homeless Canadians — with Muslim refugees, asylum seekers, irregular migrants, or what they really are – illegal aliens. Some 18-20 migrant wannabes are arriving in the city every day, mostly from Nigeria (a country that is NOT at war). So they are putting them up in hotels, such as the Raddison Toronto East hotel.
Toronto Sun (h/t Liz) As reported by Canadian Press, the federal government has extended their hotel stay four weeks beyond the original deadline of Sept. 30 because they have yet to come up with a more long-term approach that would send the refugees to communities beyond Toronto.
There are also 1,719 irregular (illegal) migrants/refugees/asylum seekers in Toronto hotels, including 577 housed at the Radisson Toronto East hotel in 146 rooms (the hotel has 240 rooms in total).
The reputable Tripadvisor website has been inundated in the past few weeks with scathing reviews of the hotel, calling it a “zoo, filthy, noisy and dangerous” with the lobby full of loitering refugees and halls containing graffiti and garbage.
Every paying visitor on Trip Advisor has claimed they did not know and were not told that 61% of the hotel is being occupied by refugees.

There was this big discussion on my editing group recently about these so-called “irregular migrants”. I dared to say that I found the term conceptually wrong. Received several bleeding-heart comments (not for these poor animals that are inhumanely slaughtered, I notice) about how divisive and inhumane it is to call them anything but “irregular migrants”. These deluded souls claimed that they go through the proper immigration channels once they arrive illegally on Canada’s shores. I pointed out that if that is indeed the case, they should be called “immigrants”.
My own parents were legal immigrants. My father brought his electroplating skills to New Zealand from London, in search of a better life where his trade was in high demand. He came from a poor but honest family, and made something decent of himself.
My ancestors on my mother’s side were genuine Jewish refugees from Russia. They arrived with nothing and lived in a tenement building with 12 children. They couldn’t even speak English. They had none of the privileges these “illegal immigrants” enjoy today. Nor did they destroy their lodgings. They were just grateful for a place to live after being ousted out by the pogroms.
Let’s call these recent arrivals into Canada what they are: illegal immigrants. Anything else is venturing into Orwellian territory.

Damn Tripadvisor. I looked at the comments about the East Toronto Raddison and it planted a cookie on my laptop. This now keeps reminding me about the place under the – VERY – mistaken impression I want to stay there. Also I have emailed Raddison HQ about the squalor and animal abuse there – I got no reply.
