Interior Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Matteo Salvini’s security-and-migration decree received final approval last night and received a standing ovation in the Lower House.
Voice of Europe The Lower House gave their approval and it was met with applause in the house. This legislation makes it easier for authorities to deport asylum seekers found guilty of felonies.
Under Salvini’s new decree, migrants who are caught stealing, dealing drugs or taking part in other anti-social or illegal behaviors will have their asylum applications immediately revoked.
The police would have much broader authority under the new decree, including allowing police to carry Taser stun guns and the power to evict squatters Another win and more promises kept by Italy’s populist government.
Not surprisingly, Muslim migration hardliner, Matteo Salvini, is the most trusted politician in Italy.
Voice of EuropeSalvini has made very public his anti-illegal immigration stance on television, radio and social media. He has also become known worldwide due to the scuffle between the European Commission and Italy’s 2019 budget.
On Thursday ANSA reported that the last week’s poll saw Salvini with 50 per cent, he was ahead of the Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte’s 46 per cent.
In October Salvini received 60 per cent removing Conte as most popular politician, as well, the majority of opposition party voters consider Salvini the real leader of the government.
