This very biased (against Egypt) report from Turkish Public Broadcasting paints a false picture of who these prisoners are. Most are from the Muslim Brotherhood regime of former president Mohamed Morsi, who recently died in prison, before he could be executed. 762 terrorist detainees have died in Egyptian prisons since the 2013 coup against Morsi.
Egypt has been at peace since Morsi was deposed by the Egyptian military, at the behest of millions of Egyptians who took to the streets demanding his ouster. Former General Abdel Fattah el-Sisi is now president and the Muslim Brotherhood leaders have either been executed or are still in prison. Though founded in Egypt, the Muslim Brotherhood has been driven out of Egypt and now has its base of operations in Qatar. El-Sisi has been encouraging Donald Trump to designated the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization.
