Summit News (h/t Linda R) Democrat Congressmuslim Rashida Tlaib blamed “white supremacy” for a shooting in New Jersey targeting a Jewish kosher grocery store which was carried out by a member of a black supremacist group.
Three civilians and one police officer were killed during the shooting on Tuesday, with the civilian victims later being named as members of the local Chassidic community. The tragedy took place in a “historically black neighborhood where an ultra-Orthodox Jewish community recently has taken root,” reported the Wall Street Journal.
David Anderson was subsequently named as one of the shooters, with NBC New York reporting that he had made anti-Semitic and anti-police statements online. Anderson was “once associated with the Black Hebrew Israelite movement.
According to Hebrew Israelite philosophy, African Americans, not Jews, are God’s true chosen people. Israelite preachers are seen on YouTube calling the Holocaust a ‘joke’, praising Adolf Hitler, and calling for the deaths of whites, Jews, gays, and lesbians.
JTA The Black Hebrew Israelite extremist movement is described as “Groups of Black Americans who who claim they – and NOT Jews – are the true descendants of the biblical Hebrews.” The movement emerged from a stream of late 19th-century black nationalism that claimed African-Americans were the true descendants of the ancient Hebrews.
The Hebrew Israelites are considered a ‘racist and black supremacist’ movement by the Southern Poverty Law Center. A 2008 report from the center warned that extremism within the movement was on the rise.
There is a rising extremist sector within the Hebrew Israelite movement whose adherents believe that Jews are devilish impostors and who openly condemn whites as evil personified, deserving only death or slavery,” the SPLC said.
Extremist Hebrew Israelites can be found on street corners literally shouting their doctrine, which can include Holocaust denial, misogyny and anti-LGBTQ invective, at passersby. They are especially visible in major Northeastern cities like New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C., as well as in Florida and some Southern states.
