Attorney General William Barr announced today during a press conference that the attack at a US Naval Air Station in Pensacola, Florida, in December was an “act of terrorism.” AG Barr said that Mohammed Saeed Alshamrani was motivated by Islamic “jihadist ideology.”
CNS News “During the course of the investigation, we learned that the shooter posted a message on September 11th of this year stating, the countdown has begun,” Barr said during a press conference.
On December 6, 2019 in a 15-minute shooting spree, Saudi Muslim military trainee Mohammed Alshamrani shot and killed three sailors and wounded eight others. Alshamrani was killed by a sheriff’s deputy upon arrival at around the 8-minute mark of the incident.
“During the Thanksgiving weekend, he then visited the 9-11 memorial in New York City. He also posted other anti-American, anti-Israeli and jihadi messages on social media including two hours before his attack,” he said.
