When called out for spreading the lie, she simply deletes the Tweet, but makes no attempt to apologize.
TNS Because she obviously thought it has been too long since her last act of anti-Semitism, Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) moved quickly to share a false story about the death of a Palestinian boy at the hands of a ‘herd’ of Israeli settlers.
As it turns out, the boy was, very unfortunately, found dead after an extensive search near his home, but he drowned in a cistern, not at the hands of Jewish settlers. The boy’s death was seized upon by anti-Semitic voices online, nevertheless, which included the use of an unrelated video to claim the boy was kidnapped and summarily murdered by Israelis.
Naturally, Tlaib retweeted the false claim.
The Jerusalem Post reported:
US Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib retweeted a claim that “Israeli settlers” had “kidnapped and executed” a Palestinian boy. In fact the boy was found by Israeli emergency services dead in a cistern on Saturday morning after going missing on Friday. Nevertheless, some Palestinian social media accounts incited against Israel, with small clashes resulting in East Jerusalem.
A Twitter account called “Real Seif Bitar” tweeted that the boy had been kidnapped and executed and showed a video of the boy’s body being found by emergency services. The tweet claimed that the boy was kidnapped by “Israeli settlers, assaulted and thrown in a water well, was found this morning frozen to death in Beit Hanina, Jerusalem after Israeli forces assaulted search teams.”
