Omar, who is a frequent critic of the United States, spoke to ELLE Magazine with her daughter (photo below), Isra Hirsi (a publicly-declared Communist), on how America has become intolerant of
immigrants illegal immigrants.
Neonnettle America now has an “extreme anti-immigrant, anti-black, anti-Muslim rhetoric coming from the highest office of this nation,” Omar said. Elle’s piece titled: “An Intimate Conversation Between Rep. Ilhan Omar and Her Daughter, Isra Hirsi,” painted the congresswoman in an almost apologetic light as she raged about what was wrong with America.
“The mother-daughter duo talk refugee camps, representing the marginalized, and their modern Muslim family, in a conversation moderated by ELLE.com.”
During the conversation, Elle asks Omar if she can “talk about how it felt to be so exposed publicly—to have your personal life dragged through the headlines, to have lies told about you.”
This reference was allegations Omar married her biological brother to allow him entry to the United States, bypassing U.S. immigration laws. (See: The FBI is investigating Congressmuslim Ilhan Omar’s (D-MN) alleged immigration/marriage fraud and illegal campaign finance activities
But the congresswoman called accusations “fake news,” “anti-Muslim smears,” and “hate speech.”“No one that has all of the marginalized identities that I have has ever served in Congress,” Omar said in part of her response.
“To be in a position of influence at a time where the country I was born in is on a national ban, where we have extreme anti-(illegal) immigrant, anti-black, anti-Muslim rhetoric coming from the highest office of this nation—it sort of makes sense that there would be a next-level to the filth that followed Obama’s presidency,” she said.
“People literally can write anything, and everyone would probably believe it.””As much as I work really hard to shield my family from it, I also knew that my book was going to be my opportunity to invite people into my life and into my existence in a way that is different than the articles that have been written about me.”
Last year, Omar criticized America for not living up to her expectations and being a disappointment when she arrived in the United States as a refugee from Somalia seeking asylum. The freshman lawmaker slammed America as unjust during a recent speech at a high school, complaining that she found the US disappointing and even criticized her fellow Democrats in Congress.
