Two people, including a police officer, were hospitalized following a violent altercation in St Paul’s, Bristol yesterday evening while they were taking am African (Muslim?) into custody.
Voice of Europe(h/t Thereza B) Police were called to the scene at approximately 7:40 PM after receiving calls about a disturbance involving several people at the corner of Winkworth Place and Argyle Road, according to a report by the Bristol Post.
Then the officers were aggressively confronted by the crowd. They were eventually forced to call for reinforcements to regain control of the situation.
In a video (below) that was released showing part of the incident, officers can be seen surrounded by a group of black people who are angrily shouting at them while they are handcuffing and taking a black man into custody.
One police officer was injured and had to be taken to a hospital for facial injuries. Another man was injured in the head before officers arrived; he was also hospitalised. Reports say that police confiscated a baseball bat at the scene.
The person holding the camera can also be heard mocking a policewoman for being a “ginger” (red hair )
