In Karlsruhe, a landlord was viciously attacked and critically injured by his Syrian Muslim tenant when he tried to hand him a notice of termination of his lease. However, the Muslim attacker faces no charges and was quickly set free by the prosecutor.
Medforth (h/t Mary C) The Muslim attacker is said to be known to the police. The reason for trying to terminate his lease was his sexual harassment of female residents of the building. There was also a dispute about the rental fee. When the landlord, accompanied by two people, tried to give notice of termination of his lease, the Muslim grabbed a knife and stabbed him in several places.
Alexander Arpaschi, the landlord, is still in the hospital after the knife attack. He had to undergo emergency surgery for life-threatening injuries.
The police are said to have classified the incident as a “civil dispute,” although it is not clear whether this refers to the tenant-landlord dispute or the knife attack. The Muslim perpetrator was released from police custody while the landlord was still hospitalized.
The coverage in the German media was minimal. The reasons? Firstly, the attacker is a Muslim. Secondly, the victim is a member of the anti-Islamization AfD (Alternative for Germany) Party and a nominee in the last city council elections.
