What this means is that without suffucient Iron Dome protection, the next time Hamas launches a barrage of rockets into civilian areas of Israel, Israel will be forced to engage in ground and aerial war that will kill thousands of Palestinians.
BizPacReview The anti-semitic disposition of Muslim-dominated, so-called “Squad” of radical Democrat lawmakers in Congress is not new, but what is newsworthy is the growing influence these hard-left ideologues clearly have on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
On Tuesday, this cabal of socialists and extremists, including the first two Muslim women to serve in Congress, forced House Democratic leadership to cut $1 billion for Israel’s Iron Dome defense system from a short-term government funding bill, Fox News reported.
U.S. Reps. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) led the way in blocking money that would have been used to replenish the defense system relied upon heavily earlier this year as thousands of rockets rained down from Gaza, threatening to vote against a continuing resolution to keep the federal government funded through early December and raise the $28 trillion debt ceiling, according to the network.
President Biden “promised to replenish Israel’s Iron Dome batteries after the last round of fighting with Hamas in May, and again when he met with Prime Minister Naftali Bennett in the Oval Office last month.”
In yet another display of dishonesty from this president, Biden told the UN General Assembly on Monday: “The commitment of the United States to Israel’s security is without question and our support for an independent Jewish state is unequivocal.” The remark coming shortly before House Democrats stripped the funding.
Senator Ted Cruz attacked the Biden administration for undermining Israel by sending hundreds of millions of dollars to the Palestinian Authority while also reentering the Iran Nuclear Deal. The senator went after President Biden for not clearly stating that the United States has Israel’s back, instead telling Israel that he expects things to calm down soon.
“Now is the time for men and women with courage to step up and say, we stand with Israel. And by the way, now is a time when the Biden administration ought to step forward and say we’re going to replenish the Iron Dome munitions that are saving thousands of lives by intercepting these terrorist rocket attacks. Instead of attacking, and belittling, and undermining the nation of Israel, President Biden ought to be standing with Israel and replenishing the Iron Dome munitions.”
The egregious move to block the funding even prompted pushback from within their own party, particularly among moderate members, who have slammed their progressive colleagues and their anti-Israel stance. Some pointed out that the Iron Dome is not an offensive weapon but rather a defense mechanism meant to shield civilians from rocket attacks by Islamist militant groups.
Rep. Elissa Slotkin (D-MI), a member of the House Armed Services Committee who has worked at the Pentagon and the CIA, tweeted that removing the funding language from the legislation was “devoid of substance and irresponsible.”
