Perhaps a history lesson is in order.
The existence of the the Byzantine (Eastern Orthodox) church has been an embarrassment for the Catholic (Western Latin) church for over a THOUSAND years. The Byzantine Church thought (and publicly declared) that the Catholic church was totally corrupt and probably satanic a thousand years before Martin Luther was born.
The very first city attacked (and looted) by the crusaders was CHRISTIAN Constantinople. The pope condoned it because they were the ‘wrong’ kind of Christians, which only confirmed (and solidified for ALL TIME) Eastern views of the Latin See. Even recently NATO bombed the Orthodox Serbs to protect muslim Kosovars (and to a lesser extent Catholic Croats). The fact that Russia is an Orthodox nation is at least one of the reasons they are STILL so demonized today.

There is some evidence for both sides, but for me the fact that the crusaders were not excommunicated is all I need to know.
History is not absolute, and the popes were not emperors. There were many reasons for the crusades besides protecting Christendom from the relentless aggression of islam. But the Catholic church has always viewed the Byzantine Church as an enemy. Everything the Catholics did to the Protestants they first did (or let islam do) to the Byzantine Church for over a thousand years.

And I do understand that Christians believe that spreading the gospel and welcoming everyone to find Jesus is is a good thing. I am not religious at all and I do love my Christian friends. But I will always be Jewish and believe as Jews do.
There is a verse that says “All Israel shall be saved” I don’t know exactly how that is going to happen, but I do know God has not and will not abandon His original people. I think it may be something like King David’s prayer in Psalms 51. One of my favorite chapters. We do serve a loving God, but even He has parameters, like any truly loving parent, who knows what is best for His children.

Any who accept the Eucharist without these steps are considered to be committing a mortal sin. It’s not necessary to be baptised if you’ve already been baptized in another church, but you still have to go through the rest of the steps. I have a lot to be thankful to the Catholic Faith .
