After the Oklahoma beheading by a Muslim and ongoing threats from the Islamic State (ISIS), Arkansas Firing Range becomes the first to ban Muslims.
Bearing Arms In an act that will no doubt result in lawsuits, The Gun Cave Indoor Shooting Range in Hot Springs, Arkansas, has declared itself a “Muslim free zone” due to concerns over domestic Islamic terrorism. The ban was announced yesterday by range owner Jan Morgan in an article posted to her web site where she cites ten points justifying her position.
Among the points cited are prior attacks in the United States that the federal government refuses to classify as terrorism, including the Fort Hood attack, the Boston Marathon bombing, and the last week’s Oklahoma City beheading. Morgan has also received death threats in the past for her writing about Islam.
Another incident that weighed heavily in Morgan’s decision was an incident at her firing range several weeks ago, which she relayed to Bearing Arms this morning.
Morgan claims that two Muslim men who spoke only broken English came to her range and requested to rent semi-automatic firearms and ammunition. One of them could not produce any identification showing that he was in the country legally, and the other had a California driver’s license. Neither had any apparent firearms training. She allowed them to rent one firearm, and stood behind them the entire time they were on the range, her hand on or near her holstered Glock 19. All other patrons voluntarily vacated the firing line while they were shooting.
She brings up a very valid point that gun stores and ranges have both a legal and moral obligation to ensure the safety of their patrons. Because of this, they may refuse service to anyone they deem to be under the influence, mentally unstable, or otherwise a potential threat to themselves, or others. FFLs are afforded a great deal of latitude in this regard, as the federal government would rather err on the side of caution.
While FFls and range operators have a great deal of latitude in their business dealings, it is doubtful that a blanket ban based upon religion is remotely viable on First Amendment grounds. This is no more legally viable than a ban on Baptists or Catholics.
Morgan expects that she will be sued over the decision for civil rights violations, and is gearing up for a court battle.
On her website, Jan says:
“Since I have no way of discerning which muslims will or will not kill in the name of their religion and the commands in their koran…I choose to err on the side of caution for the safety of my patrons.
Also on the issue of religious discrimination, I view Islam as a theocracy, not a religion. Islam is undoubtedly the union of political, legal, and religious ideologies. In other words law, religion and state are forged together to form what Muslims refer to as “The Nation of Islam.” Once again it is given the sovereign qualities of a nation with clerics in the governing body and Sharia law all in one. This is a Theocracy, not a religion.
The US Constitution does not protect a theocracy. The 1st Amendment is very specific about protecting the rights of individuals from the government, as it concerns the practice of religions, not theocracies. It clearly differentiates between government and religion. Again protecting the individual’s religious beliefs and practices from (the state) government. In Islam religion and state are one.
We are a Nation governed by laws, or the law of the land the U.S. Constitution. We are not a Nation that is governed by religion, politicians or clerics.
How then, can anyone say that, the practice of Islam is protected by the U.S. Constitution?”

A business that is a public accommodation cannot discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, or national origin
Second, in terms of safety, one could argue that blacks have a higher incidence of gun violence and therefore can be barred from gun ranges. But simply being of the same race or same religion as a minority of violent people is not a legal justification for violation of an individual’s 2nd amendment rights or public accommodations rights.
As for being a cheap shot race card move, no…race and religion are in the same list under the law. I just thought all the folks cheering for discrimination might be better able to grasp how wrong it is if some other enumerated protected class were considered.

2) ATF gives federal firearms licensed facilities complete descretion regardin who we allow to handle lethal weapons in our facilities. .. who we train … and who we hand guns to.
we do not have to have a reason to deny other than, if we feel the person might use the firearm in the commission of a crime, we are directed by our own government agency, the ATF, to err on the side of caution and stop the transaction.

1. It doesn’t work with Firefox 32.0.3 on XP* on my computer. There is an interactive list of the shirts but NOWHERE is there an”add to bag” button, and NOWHERE is there a “proceed to checkout” button. (*I know XP is outdated. It shoots one inch groups at 100 yards and at semi automatic and two duck taped 30 round mags you could decimate a platoon of armed Muslim terrorists. Being a scoped “Recce” style AR and seeing how most terrorists use iron sights on an AK (lol what a joke) one of these is a HUGE advantage over the traditional AK.

When I took a class to get my concealed handgun permit here in Virginia, we end to the shooting range with the instructor for the second half of the class. This was the first time for me at a shooting range, but the class is required. Why would anyone go to a shooting range not knowing how to handle firearms at all?

Good for her. And fortunately, no law can require other shooters stay in the same area as Muslim shooters, or make them feel welcome in such a setting. Thus, they might just stop coming if the message that they aren’t trusted comes across.

I always believed it was we have the right to refuse service to anyone. No reason needs to be given. So is it a Constitutional Violation that I do not qualify for services given at the United Negro College Fund because I am White? You don’t have to convince me, but, the Supreme Court? A real war with islam, in which our homeland, over a period of many months to more than a year, has been nearly brought to its knees through the violent actions of muslim nationals and their invading barbarian brethren, before they’re finally stopped by mostly American and Canadian patriots/vigilantes, will get that type attention from our highest court. But the bigger picture/question is: what kind of world would we be living in after that?

YES!!!!!! Awesome, just awesome. I was in a gun range 6 weeks ago when a bag head and her oppressor/master (dressed in the rag and diaper and long pants uniform) came in to use the range. I was PISSED they were even there. The baghead had the target 7 feet in front of her, or less, and couldn’t hit it.
I was very suspicious they were there in the first place. Since islam isn’t a religion, all gun ranges should go ahead and implement this safety regulation of no muslimes on the range.
