“An increasing number of problems involving religious affairs have emerged in Xinjiang,” Ma Mingcheng, deputy director of the Xinjiang People’s Congress and director of its legislative affairs committee, told the local media.
Chinese officials have earlier said that Xinjiang has seen a sharp growth in religious fundamentalism, which may be affecting young minds and turning some of them towards terrorism. The region, which borders Pakistan, is a hotbed of a violent separatist movement run by the East Turkmenistan Islamic Movement.
The new rules, which come into effect January 1, also prohibit people from distributing and viewing videos about jihad, or holy war, religious extremism and terrorism in or outside religious venues, and requires religious leaders to report such activities to the local authorities and police.
The region’s local parliament passed a law on Friday stipulating penalties of between 5,000 and 30,000 yuan ($4,884) for individuals who use the Internet, mobile phones or digital publishing to undermine national unity, social stability or incite ethnic hatred.
The last major case of violence took place Shache county near the Pakistan border on Friday when 15 people were killed. Four were killed in knife attacks by the ultras, and 11 “mobsters” were killed by the police.
Last March, knife-wielding militants from Xinjiang killed 31 people and injured 141 at the Kunming railway station in southwest Yunnan province.

In Tianjin there’s many mosques and muslim businesses around the place. I’ve seen a catholic church near bing jiang dao and even in wang fu jing, beijing. Then there’s all the buddhist temples… didn’t see the jing cha running around destorying these places of worship like the muslims are happy to do islamic countries. China, being a communist country, has a history of restricting certain undesirable religions. They did the same with the Tao Gong movement (even though Tao Gong was nothing but meditation but the government saw it as a threat.

I am a Taoist from China , I travel around the world to learn woodworking skills. I tell everyone that I am a Taoist and I get no any trouble in China , I actually get overly respected even by communists–they serve me food and ask me to bless their properties.
The Tao gong is totally a lie. The Tao gong suddenly appeared since1990s. In Taoism , taoists do not have to follow any religion and there is no God nor prophet in Taoism. Taoism is a personal calm belief of the universe.
If I do meditation, I prefer the wild, in the nature, or in my private place filled with lotus sense. I will never do it in the traffic, blocking others door way or out of police station.
It offends me when some people in china use taoism as a excuse to make chaos.
There is a traditional sentence in China says that “Muslims betray the country first when the country is in trouble” (国有难，回必乱). I think it is true, the Muslims never think they are a member of any country they are in. They always want to creat their own stan in where ever they are.

However muzzturds are in a number of places in China, as far away as Taiyuan in Northern China ( I know this because my oldest son speaks fluent Mandarin & taught English at the Shanxi University), so he came into contact with them at different eateries. However if moslems can be called “moderate” these ones would be – they are ethnic Chinese & are very suppressed (as they should be). Many also drink alcohol because of the extreme cold in winter.
But I think the majority of Muslims (especially the troublemakers) are in Xinjiang.

There are a fair number of Uighurs in Oz, but a lot of them left to escape the violence. I actually have one as a friend who is ex-moslem (& his wife).He opened a restaurant, even though by trade he was a film-maker, but because he made something not flattering to pisslam he had to leave Urumqi for “health” reasons.
