Two Islamic State (ISIS) savages shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’ butchered a French priest and left a nun fighting for her life before they were both shot dead by police in Normandy. Some reports say the priest was beheaded.
UK Daily Mail The 84-year-old priest, named as Jacques Hamel, had his throats cut while a nun is critically injured in hospital following the raid which saw five people held hostage by ISIS assailants shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’. One of the men who stormed into the church in Saint-Etienne-du-Rouvray near Rouen during mass was a local man, who was being monitored by electronic tag after being jailed for trying to join fanatics in Syria.
The two killers were ‘neutralised’ by marksmen as they emerged from the building, which is now being searched for explosives. French president Hollande said France is ‘at war’ with ISIS while the terror group has claimed responsibility for the killing.
It comes as it emerged that the building was one of a number of Catholic churches on a terrorist ‘hit list’ found on a suspected ISIS extremist last April.
There are also reports that one of the attackers was a local resident who was under electronic tag surveillance having been jailed in France for trying to travel to Syria in 2015. His bail terms allowed him to be unsupervised between 8.30am and 12.30pm – the attack happened between 9am and 11am.

Will western Catholics wake up NOW? Because the MANY incidents of Muslims slaughtering Catholics during church services have been going on for a very long time now and nobody has cared. Will look it up. If Catholic means universal why are there so many (30,000) protestant denominations. Why do they not agree on a common set of beliefs. \\/ Why is there not a spokesperson? they are all very good questions that deserve an answer, unfortunately I do not have any. Although not very religious myself, it seems that when good people of all denominations and faiths are threatened by an overwhelming evil, such as Islam, there appears an outstanding leader who can unify nations, get them to put aside their petty differences, and combine to defeat the enemy.
This has happened too many times to be a coincidence, I think a Divine hand is at work.

I spent 40 years, literally, as a protestant. I was always confused by the lack of religious unity among the groups. Spent 15 years as Catholic after reading the catechism(green book) through twice.

Protestants cannot even agree on a common statement of beliefs. They have no common catechism, even. How can they unite, and who will speak for them.
France barely has a christian population, most people lie somewhere between indifferent agnosticism and opinionated atheism. I’ve grown there and barely have been exposed to religion at all. It’s virtually non-existent as far as most people are concerned.
So France as it stands will rather picture it as an attack on its flavor of democracy, which sports strong secularism and some (debatable) amount of “tolerance”. The French won’t think of it in relation to Christendom as this is basically incompatible with their worldview.
Paul, your comment explains the loud silence of the Europeans, not just the French to the recent jihadi attacks. Religion has declined or disappeared in so much of the west, including Aust & NZ, that the myth of terrorists being unloved gunman or mentally unstable loners, fits the popular narrative.

I’m not sure this will be a game changer. In fact, I’m starting to think NOTHING will be a game changer. The only kind of attack I can think of which hasn’t yet been perpetrated on West European soil is a Beslan-style of attack. I’m afraid it’ll happen in due course, but even that might not be enough to start all-out war.
What I think is, we’re now well on the way towards all-out war, yes, but it will start gradually. There might be some sort of attack against a mosque, with casualties – then you’ll have the banlieues on fire. It might calm down for a while, whilst backstage negotiations between islamic “authorities” and our treacherous rulers are taking place… or not. But my theory is that we are now slowly spiralling down into war, that it all started in January last year, and that, the further down we spiral, the more quickly the ball will roll.
Stay tuned, for this has only just started.
The Catholic church there is saying this atrocity has “crossed the line”. What that means remains to be seen, of course. But, don’t expect much. If anything. For me the “line” was in reality crossed 1400 years ago when the monsterous, sadistic islam death cult was let loose upon mankind. Then told her God is watching as the Western Church sits neutered and doesn’t even have the courage to stand up and call it what it is, EVIL and SATANIC! Then asked her if she knew what the penalty for apostating from Islam is and she knew it was death, I told her with that as the punishment it is NOT a religion but a CULT. She was pretty stunned!
