thats an erroneous suggestion, that italy needs the mafia to stop illegal migration. if anything, the mafia is facilitating in some way the migration of these people, either by providing the ships whose fuel may be paid for by NGOs or simply guiding & piloting the landings. or perhaps a system of safe houses and land transportation to the cities where the illegals are dumped or forced into prostitution and slavery. anyway it can make a buck (or lira) is fine with the mafia as it traffics in the misery of humanity. greed is its sacrament. what is needed is an alt-NGO that would sabotage (or sink) the ships before they can get underway. or, maybe a captain can be dissuaded from his cruise. inaction enables the illegal activists? when your state evaporates in front of you it’ll be too late.
