Under the slogan of “Freedom,” hardline anti-lockdown leader Isabel Diaz Ayuso’s victory deals a stunning defeat to Spain’s governing Socialist Party. She is likely to form a coalition with the even farther-right, hardline, anti-Muslim immigration, populist VOX Party.

Right-wing incumbent leader Isabel Diaz Ayuso landed a resounding victory in Madrid’s elections on Tuesday, with more 95% of ballots having been counted.
However, the 42-year-old member of the conservative People’s Party (PP) fell short of the 69 seats required for an absolute majority. She will most likely have to rely on support from the Trump-like ‘Spain First’ VOX party, which gained 13 seats, to form a viable coalition.

The result of the election in the country’s capital city and richest region where 7 million people live, out of a total population of 47 million, could have a big impact on Spain’s political landscape. The vote is also considered by many as a comment on the Spanish left-wing government’s COVID-19 policies.
PP chief Pablo Casado commended Ayuso’s victory, calling her “the leader Madrid deserves.”
At national level, the Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez’s Socialist Party leads a minority government with the hard-left Unidas Podemos. The parties’ poor showing in the Madrid vote prompted Podemos leader Pablo Iglesias to resign from politics.
Great news!
This is excellent news, especially for a big place such as Madrid. Let us hope the Movement spreads.
Very sadly, in most European countries, the Greens are also gaining votes and they are becoming a major obstacle for the Right because the Greens always coalesce with the Left.
CI, am very happy to see how well the VOX party is doing in such a short time.
Fantastic news!
What is her party’s stance on the massive Muslim invasion and conquest of Europe? Vox Party is the very best!
FREEDOM for Britain and all of Europe!
