I wonder how they can enforce such a law? What happens if there is no mosque near you 5 times a day?
That almost never happens in a Muslim majority area. Just drive down to Jackson Heights in your city, and you’ll see a mosque on every turn.
If I am surrounded by ONLY Muslims, it becomes difficult for me to forgo the mandatory prayers.
They all give you dirty looks for skipping prayers – it’s the worst kind of PEER PRESSURE.
But why does it have to be in a mosque? I see Muslims dropping to their knees and praying all over the place, on sidewalks, in parks, in the streets blocking traffic…etc.
A mosque is always preferred. You pray on the parks and streets only when no mosques are around.
All mosques are filled to the capacity during Ramadan and Eid festivals, and the Friday prayers. They just don’t have any more room left so the congregation spills over into the streets.
I reckon on average around 70-80% of Muslims try to keep their daily prayer appointments, and will pray no matter where they are.
So how do the Taliban plan to enforce this on everyone?
FEAR. Instill fear, that is their plan.
I don’t think the percentage is that high at all.
Most Muslims do keep their prayer appointments at least ONCE a day…..the ones like me who don’t pray often are a minority.
There’s a reason the mosques are always packed.
And church pews are always empty. 🙂
