Biden regime officials have asked Israel to review its military’s rules of engagement for operations in Judea and Samaria, and for Jerusalem to publish the conclusions of its report into the accidental killing of Palestinian-American Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, who put herself in the middle of a war zone on May 11th.
Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid said, “I will not allow an IDF soldier that was protecting himself from terrorist fire to be prosecuted just to receive applause from abroad,” he said, referring to the Israeli military. “No one will dictate our open-fire policies to us when we are fighting for our lives. Our soldiers have the full backing of the government of Israel and the people of Israel,” he said.
Michael Oren, former ambassador of Israel in Washington, told Army Radio on Thursday that “the State Department’s statement is unbelievably rash. The opening fire instructions of the IDF are much stricter than those of the US.”

The Biden regime felt compelled to do something in responses to Abu Akleh’s death after the Palestinians and their proponents succeeded in turning her into a cause célèbre (despite the fact that she is but one among thousands of journalists killed on assignment in recent decades).
Gantz reportedly reminded Blinken that war is messy, and collateral damage, including harm to civilians who purposefully place themselves on the battlefield, is not uncommon.
State Department deputy spokesman Vedant Patel, speaking to reporters in Washington on Tuesday, said the U.S. would press Israel on the matter and insist on accountability.
The United States military is certainly no stranger to this phenomenon, with its second invasion of Iraq deemed one of the most deadly conflicts ever for war reporters. And many of those journalists’ deaths were reportedly covered-up before being exposed in the Wikileaks scandal.
Taken together, all of this further bolsters the perception that Israel is held to a double or higher standard than every other nation, including the United States.

Oh the arrogance of this fraudulent administration. They are certainly in no way qualified to provide ROE input/guidance. We have enough examples of our own ROE failures that have caused countless deaths of our own servicemen and women.
