According to Italian journalist Enrico Buscema, Italy will back a Europe of nation states. One can foresee a ‘non-EU’ union of conservative-led populist nations comprised of Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Austria, and now, the new Sweden and Italy.
REMIX News The victory for Giorgia Meloni in Italy is a turn away from the post-politics of the Five Star era or the scandal-ridden Berlusconi times, Italian commentator Enrico Buscema claimed in an interview with Polish weekly magazine Tygodnik Solidarność. It is also a turn away from the Leftist populism of promising cash handouts for all.
According to Buscema, Meloni wants to concentrate on policies to protect and support families, institutional reform, the curbing of migration, and the end of surrender to international corporations.
These policies are remarkably similar to those pursued by the conservative governments in Poland and Hungary. Buscema notes the success the Polish government has had in tightening up the tax system and thinks Meloni will try to follow suit.
The Italian commentator says immigration is currently a major problem in Italy, partly because the left has been trying to buy incoming migrants with benefits and give them the vote in order to increase its support. The latter proved impossible, but the financial and social costs of migration are enormous, says Buscema.
Asked about relations with the EU in light of Ursula von der Leyen’s comments on how the European Commission would combat the new Italian government, Buscema sees the issue as being a little more complex.
He points to Italy’s poor record in absorbing EU funds, compared to Poland, but he says von der Leyen’s comments merely helped the right as voters don’t want to “hear nonsense about creeping fascism” or democracy being in danger from Brussels officials.
Buscema is certain that Poland can count on Italy’s support in its disputes with the EU executive, and he believes Italy will be Poland’s ally in foreign policy regarding close relations with the U.S. and the war in Ukraine. He did, however, acknowledge that Italy may not always see eye to eye with Poland on internal matters such as media laws or abortion.
The Italian commentator thinks that the election results in Italy and Sweden could herald a new trend towards the right in Europe. Issues such as migration, excessive meddling by Brussels, and fears of economic crisis point towards this trend.
A right-wing populist wave washed over the European Union from 2015 to 2020.
Poland elected a hard-right government, then the following year saw the United Kingdom leave the bloc in 2016. This was followed by the election of populist-right governments in Austria and Italy, and Hungary reelecting Viktor Orbán’s Fidesz party in 2018. Capping it all off, Poland then reelected their same government in 2019.
Voter anger over mass Muslim illegal migration — a clear driverin severalof the electoral contests — was oftentimes ignored or lambasted as nothing but racism, with most of the right-wing victories being erroneously chalked up to disinformation.
In Hungary, a “public information announcement” that aired on TV said:
“Recently, millions of immigrants arrived in Europe,” the recording says. “But the fence built along the Hungarian border now stops them. George Soros says this fence needs to be dismantled and many more millions need to be resettled here from Africa and the Middle East. This is dangerous! This is why the Soros Plan must be thwarted. Stop Soros! Prepared by the Hungarian government.”
Sweden followed this trend in its recent election, with the country’s right wing winning power on the strength of the conservative Sweden Democrats, as the party doubled its support among young voters since the last election
Other dominoes may soon fall too.
Spain and Finland are set to head to the polls in 2023, and both elections could result in right-wing coalitions that would include far-right parties. Meanwhile, Belgium’s top two parties in current polling averages are far-right populists, and Poland’s governing right-wing Law and Justice party (PiS) still leads parliamentary polling and could feasibly govern with the nationalist Confederation.
Other supporters of Meloni in the CEE region included Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik, who tweeted: “Congratulations @GiorgiaMeloni, @matteosalvinimi, @berlusconi on the electoral victory! In times of challenges, it is important to hold fast to national interests and goals!”

An ‘anti-EU’ union of conservative European countries would be a DREAM come True.
It must never be anything like Britain where the Treasonous govt are importing Muslims from the Huge Third World as fast as they can on a daily basis and treating the SONS of DARKNESS — the Soldiers of Mohammad, like Royalty.
It’s not enough to permanently end Muslim importation. Massive Muslim deportations must take place immediately to prevent the planned Huge, BARBARIC GENOCIDES of British and Europeans Jews, Christians and other Non-Muslims.
