The war fighters WILL win. God forbid they become woke.
I’m sure most BNI readers know how the Marines got their nickname “leathernecks”.
Wikipedia, of course, says the term originated from “wearing a leather stock around the neck to protect it from slashing blades in battle”. Which battle(s)?
I’m not a historian like Kamala Harris, but under President Thomas Jefferson, the Marines were dispatched to defend our merchant ships and from paying tribute to the Barbary Pirates in the early 1,800s who were collectively from Algiers, Tunis, Tripoli and Morocco. I’m sure you all could guess from what religion the pirates got their motivation?
BareNakedIslam says
Yes…to the shores of Tripoli.

Remember that after the revolutionary war for independence, the next major battles for the Marines were against the Islamic Barbary pirates, the reason why Tripoli is in the second line of the Marines’ Hymn.
