Two people were assaulted on the L train subway platform at Union Square. The alleged assailant hit a woman and cut her face with a sharp object after reportedly trying to make an advance on her. Sources indicate that the alleged assailant made an ‘anti-Muslim statement’ before striking the woman.
CAIR Afaf Nasher, Executive Director of CAIR-NY, said in a statement: “Muslim hate crimes need to be addressed with urgency. If we are going to change the astoundingly-low number of incidents reported to law enforcement by Muslim victims, they need to know that an effective outcome can be achieved.”
Earlier this year, CAIR-NY released a report, titled “Feeling the Hate: Bias and Hate Crimes Experienced by Muslim New Yorkers” which found that 64% of Muslims have allegedly experience a hate crime, bias incident, or both, but only 4% reported the incident to law enforcement.

Had to be a Muslim man making an advance on a Muslim woman. If they could read my mind when I see a baggedand tagged Muslim the hate crimes would go off scale.
