Samnytt (h/t Marvin W) The Svea Court of Appeal stiffens the penalty for the 27-year-old taxi driver Abdirashid Adan Mohamud from Somalia, resident of Vällingby in western Greater Stockholm, who in October last year was convicted by the Solna District Court for a series of rapes and attempted rapes against female customers.
Abdirashid, instead of driving his female customers to the ordered destination, locked the taxi’s doors and took them to secluded places where he raped them. The crimes were committed while the Somali was in Sweden illegally, but he was still able to work as a taxi driver.
In the district court on October 21, Abdirashid was sentenced for two counts of completed rape, two counts of sexual assault, three counts of attempted rape, seven counts of illegal deprivation of liberty, assault, illegal threats, aggravated theft and illegal use of identity, to prison for four years and nine months (3 years and 2 months after sentence discount) as well as deportation for ten years after which he was welcome to return to Sweden.
He was charged with several more sexual crimes and illegal deprivation of liberty as well as a robbery. But there the court considered that the evidence was not sufficient for a conviction.
The verdict was appealed and on Friday the Svea Court of Appeal decided the appeal. In contrast to the district court, the evidence is considered sufficient even for several of the crimes for which he was acquitted at a lower instance, including the robbery. The degree of seriousness of the deprivations of liberty is also increased and in other cases the classification is changed from sexual assault to attempted rape and attempted rape to completed rape, in one case aggravated.
The custodial sentence is therefore increased to 7 years and 6 months in prison (5 years and 3 months after sentence reduction). In addition, the time limit for the deportation is removed so that Abdirashid is prohibited from ever returning to Sweden.

Both men, named Mohamad and Mohammed respectively, have now been convicted of child rape and aiding and abetting child rape. Mohamad is also convicted of offensive photography for secretly filming the girl inside the toilet.
The 18-year-old man was sentenced to four years and six months, and the 17-year-old received closed youth care for one year and four months.
Both convicts have Swedish citizenship and therefore cannot be deported under current legislation.
Just for the records: deportation not only fails in most cases but many offenders evicted from the host country return within less than a year, some even within a week.
