Scotland’s new Muslim leader, Humza Yusaf, won’t allow women or girls into the same room with him while he’s praying…
And to think he will be Scotland’s leader, (First Minister), until May of 2026.
I understand he was elected under the Additional Member System, where the voters did not vote for him by name, but only for his party, the Scottish National Party, and after winning the “additional member” for that region, the party picked him from a slate of names they had put up for the election.
If I am correct about that then, the Scotland’s First Minister, was never elected by name by the electorate, merely chosen after the election by his party and then, just selected to represent all of Scotland as their leader by the Scottish National Party, March 27, 2023.
The only plus is, if the majority of Scottish people haven’t lost their minds, is that in 2026, the Scottish National Party, a left-wing socialist party demanding to break away from the United Kingdom, will lose a lot of seats. The SNP holds an overwhelming majority of 45 of the 59 seats in the parliament.
This is not how it operates in Canada or as far as I know in the rest of Britain, nor in most parliamentary democracies. It seems bizarre to me too.
But it seems that since there have been increases in population in certain areas, rather than redrawing the borders to either redistribute the population among electoral districts, or add new voting districts so all regions have all the same population (within a range), Scotland, just added extra seats in parliament but not voted on by candidate name by the population, but publicly voted on just by the party name, and the party has a slate of these extra candidates they have and it is the party that picks who gets any extra seats they won.
What this means, is that the public never directly voted for Humza Yousaf, only for his party, the Scottish National Party.
In Canada, you never get to vote directly for the Prime Minister, nor for the province’s Premier. Each party votes internally for who will publicly represent them as the party leader and potential Prime Minister (or provincial Premier), and then you vote for your local candidate by their name, and they publicly belong to one of the parties as is stated on their election signs, literature and website (or on the rare occasion, for an independent candidate who does not belong to any registered political party).
Only at the municipal level where there officially are no political parties (but behind the scenes, it is extremely partisan), do you get to vote directly for the mayor.

Full of venom. This fella is run of the mill terrorist trash. Are the Scots drunk or drugged or both? Is security watching him 24/7?

I’ve never understood the parliament system of government, but this is truly bizarre.
