US Sen. Bernie Sanders on Wednesday salvaged an event planned by Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) that promotes Israel’s very existence as a “catastrophe.” The event, which took place on a day in which Palestinian terrorists from Gaza shot more than 500 rockets at Israeli civilians, was organized in partnership with organizations that glorify terrorism against Israel and proliferate anti-Semitic messaging.
NY Post The event, hosted by Tlaib and organized by nine anti-Israel groups, was moved at the last minute to the Senate side of the Capitol complex after McCarthy intervened late Tuesday to reserve the space in the Capitol Visitor Center where Tlaib’s event was initially slated to be held. McCarthy (R-Calif.) said that “the event in the U.S. Capitol has been canceled” and replaced with “a bipartisan discussion to honor the 75th anniversary of the U.S.-Israel relationship.”
“It’s wrong for members of Congress to traffic in antisemitic tropes about Israel,” the congressman toldTheWashingtonFree Beacon. “As long as I’m speaker, we are going to support Israel’s right to self-determination and self-defense, unequivocally and in a bipartisan fashion.”
HOUSE SPEAKER Kevin McCarthy blocked Congressmuslim Rashida Tlaib’s anti-Semitic hate-fest she had scheduled for today at the Capitol Building
A source familiar with the matter told The Post that Senate committee chairs are responsible for approving rooms used for events. Tlaib’s event was held in the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Hearing Room in the Dirksen Senate Office Building, a panel chaired by Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).
Sanders, who has been a vocal critic of Israel in the Senate in recent years, did not personally attend the event.
A source close to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said he was “totally unaware” that the event would be hosted on the Senate side of the Capitol.
Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-La.), the ranking member of the Senate committee, released a statement after the event expressing strong disapproval. “I wholeheartedly disapprove of the Majority permitting the use of the HELP Committee room for this divisive event,” he said. “The Capitol Grounds should not be used as a pedestal to legitimize anti-Semitic bigotry.”
JPost“We have a right to tell our stories of the Nakba of 1948… because the Nakba never ended,” Tlaib said. . Tlaib acknowledged Sanders’s help, calling him her “aamu,” Arabic for uncle, in the Senate. Sanders did not attend the event.
Ironically, Tlaib said, “No Palestinian child should ever have to worry what will fall from the sky,” as Israeli children were hiding in bomb shelters from the barrage of rockets trying to kill them from Gaza.
In the hours before and after Tlaib’s event in Washington — despite reports of an Egypt-mediated cease-fire — Palestinian Islamic Jihad rockets rained down on Israeli communities, continuing into Thursday, while Israel pressed on with Operation Shield and Arrow, striking Islamic Jihad targets.
Tlaib tweeted photos from the event with the caption: “Let the headlines read, ‘McCarthy tries to erase Palestine but fails.’”
Despite singling out erasure as a sin, Tlaib herself has been guilty of erasing Israel, such as when she hung a map in her office that depicted the entire land between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River as Palestinian.
Nakba Day (“Catastrophe Day”) events commemorate the war that led to Israeli independence as a Palestinian tragedy. In 1948, five Arab armies attacked the fledgling Israel, with support from Palestinian leadership.
The event invitation deplores “Zionist militias” and the IDF, falsely claiming that they “violently expelled approximately three-quarters of all Palestinians.” The plan was to “miseducate members of Congress and their staff about this history and the ongoing Nakba to which Israel continues to subject Palestinians.”
In a message evidently lost on Tlaib, no lawmakers, there than Tlaib and Rep. Cori Bush (D-MO) attended the event. Rep. Cori Bush (D-Missouri) tweeted earlier this week: “Not a single dollar of US aid should go to funding Israeli apartheid.”
Among Tlaib’s partners in the event were the NGOs Jewish Voice for Peace, which has glorified the First Intifada, in which Palestinians killed close to 300 Israelis; and the Institute for Middle East Understanding, which lionized Islamic Jihad leader Khader Adnan, who died last week after a hunger strike, as well as Ghassan Kanafani, who orchestrated the 1972 Lod Airport Massacre in which 26 people, including 17 US citizens, were murdered.
Jewish Voice for Peace, is a radical anti-Israel activist group that advocates for a complete economic, cultural and academic boycott of the state of Israel and that celebrates figures who have been convicted of engaging in terrorism against Israelis.

Unbelievable!
The GOP is focusing on Bidens past agenda of taking money from foreign countries in exchange for favors. If ANYONE were to read the U.S. State Department emails, they would know that they need to investigate what’s going on there with the Islamic countries and Biden! Something very, very sinister is going on there – deeply corrupt and anti-American in every way possible. It’s like thousands of Bidens Afghanistan! I just need to somehow contact one of them and let them know, since it appears that no one realizes what’s going on. Our whole country and people are in serious danger and they’re moving at rapid speed.

Bernie Sanders is despicable, allowing these thugs to celebrate their hatred of Jews. McCarthy needs to host his promised bipartisan meeting to honor Israel’s 75 anniversary as an independent nation.
