On May 18th, Mohammed El-Kurd, who likes to glorify Palestinian terrorists and portrays Jews as demonic on his massive social media platforms, is slated to receive the “Calgary Peace Prize” for his exemplary contribution toward peace and justice, from Muhannad Mark Ayyash, a professor at Mount Royal University (MRU).
HonestReporting (h/t Marvin W) Ayyash is also an outspoken anti-Israel activist, who has falsely accused Israel of practicing “apartheid” against Palestinians and of being a settler-colonialist state
But El-Kurd’s abject Jew-hatred goes deeper. On May 5th, El-Kurd’s Instagram posted pictures of “martyrs” — three Hamas terrorists killed in the West Bank during a May 4 Israeli Security Forces raid after the trio massacred three members of a British-Israeli family — Lucy Dee and her daughters Maia, 20, and Lucy, 15.
The family was driving through the Jordon Valley, headed to a holiday, when shot a total of 22 times with a Kalashnikov assault rifle — first while driving, then at close range after the vehicle crashed.
According to its official flyer (emblazoned with MRU’s official logo) the prize recognizes El-Kurd “for his exemplary contribution toward peace and justice in the struggle for a more humane, dignified, and free life for oppressed people in Palestine and beyond.”
El-Kurd, who enjoys a large social media following of nearly a quarter million followers on Facebook and more than 700,000 on Instagram, is also the “Palestine Correspondent” for far-left The Nation magazine, and has been featured on the front cover of GQ Middle East, and in 2021 was named, alongside his sister, as among the 100 most influential people in the world.
But El-Kurd does more than share his views on Israeli government policy. He has praised and lionized the actions of Palestinian terrorists and has spread dangerous antisemitic lies, including claims that Israel harvests the organs of dead Palestinians, as well as sharing Nazi-like caricatures of Israeli soldiers.
HonestReporting El-Kurd’s Twitter feed demonstrated what The Nation’s latest addition defines as “Palestinian resistance;” that is, the murder of Jewish Israelis. Just two days before his hiring was announced, he rejoiced as six Palestinian terrorists broke out of Israel’s maximum-security Gilboa Prison.
“I am going to bed with a smile on my face and dreaming of the day all prisons are abolished,” El-Kurd tweeted, calling the incident “excellent.”
For the record, all six escapees were members of US-designated terror groups. Most were serving life sentences for their roles in attacks on innocent Israeli civilians. Islamic Jihad member Ayham Kamamji, for instance, was convicted of kidnapping and murdering teenager Eliyahu Asheri.
Zakaria Zubeidi in 2002 planned an Al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades attack on a polling station that killed six Israelis and was awaiting trial for his role in several other terrorist acts. Nevertheless, El-Kurd called the recapture over the weekend of four of the terrorists a “heartbreaking development.”
Moreover, The Nation’s new correspondent regularly downplays war crimes by Hamas, another US-designated terrorist organization. El-Kurd has incited violence and glorified terrorism, recently stating that he mourns “all of our [Palestinian] martyrs.” He previously lauded Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine member and two-time airplane hijacker Leila Khaled.
Another post in which Mohammed El Kurd praises Leila Khaled, a Palestinian terrorist responsible for two hijackings of civilian planes. Can someone explain to me why @MSNBC and others are giving explicit terror supporter El-Kurd as a platform to lie?

El Kurd’s support for Palestinian terrorists dovetails with his long history of shockingly antisemitic remarks. For instance, El-Kurd in May called the Israel Defense Forces “sadistic & bloodthirsty,” a slanderous charge reminiscent of medieval blood libels. Similarly, he shared an Instagram post that promoted claims that the Jewish state deliberately kills Palestinians to harvest their organs.

He has furthermore said that Israel “kills,” “blows up,” “burns” and “tortures” Palestinian children in order to “instill terror” in them. The so-called correspondent has gone so far as to describe Israel as a “child killing entity” — an overt example of Jew-hatred according to the widely adopted IHRA definition.
Israel *is* a child killing entity. You can cry about it in your little stupid Hasbara keyboard dungeon, but that won’t change the truth. https://t.co/2fzqk3p303

I’m livid that Palestinians are constantly told to show restraint when Israeli forces show absolutely no mercy, are—without hyperbole—sadistic & bloodthirsty. Why must they blow up our children? They do this to instill terror in us, to suppress our resistance. It won’t work.

Facts about the Israeli occupation:
It steals people’s lands & homes. It creates refugees. It assaults journalists & medics. It suppresses all protest. It legalizes ethnic cleansing. It arrests activists. It bombs civilians. It detains & tortures children. It it it it it

In an equally repulsive Twitter post, El-Kurd claimed — without proof — that “Holocaust survivors” threw Molotov cocktails at his home. He also accused a Hong Kong-based Jewish author of “ethnically cleansing” and “Kristallnachting” Palestinians, the latter being a reference to the Nazi-initiated pogrom in Germany in 1938 that various historians mark as the beginning of the genocide of some six million Jews.
The IOF just gassed INSIDE the Qasem family living room in Sheikh Jarrah, settlers are throwing Molotovs at our homes…. Holocaust survivors…

Palestinians, Rohingyas etc., are the contrived names for the same people when they want to illegally take over someone else’s lands. They are employing the same strategy when they want to demonize somebody for achieving the same goal of stealing someone else’s lands. Here the word is Zionists in place of Jews, a distinction without a difference, for squatting on Jewish lands! These Arabs calling themselves Palestinians have so many nations where they can move to, where they would form part of the majority population, and among fellow followers of the same faith! But NO, they want that little sliver of a land that the Jews have!
