Leave it to Joe Biden to appoint Deborah Lipstadt (below), a self-hating, far-left Jew as United States Special Envoy for Monitoring and Combating Anti-Semitism, who defends her outreach to Hamas-linked CAIR (Council on American Islamic Relations) for help with implementing her plan.
World Israel News Deborah Lipstadt says “forgiving the Hamas-linked Islamic organization for its history of terror support and anti-Semitism was a fundamental Jewish value.”
That’s the same CAIR that has defended Islamic terrorism against Jews, defended Muslim terrorists like Ahmed Ferhani who plotted attacks on synagogues, and which was named an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation trial involving the funding of Hamas.
The White House rolled out its much-anticipated plan in May, touting it as the first and most comprehensive strategy to fight rising antisemitism in the U.S., but received backlash when it was revealed that CAIR, which has been embroiled in multiple anti-Israel controversies over the years, had been listed as one of the organizations committed to implement the plan.
U.S. Special Envoy for Monitoring and Combating Antisemitism, said in an interview with the Post Sunday that while she was aware of the group’s past, she believed that the plan created a “chance to change their past behavior.”
CAIR’s senior leaders and staff have repeatedly made incendiary comments against the State of Israel. According to the ADL, CAIR officials have maintained ties with organizations affiliated with the Hamas terror group.
One of the founders of CAIR, Ghassan Elashi, was sentenced to federal prison for his participation in setting up a fraudulent charity that funneled millions of dollars to Hamas.
CAIR leader Zahra Billoo, for example, acknowledged in November that she is “not going to legitimize a country [Israel] that I don’t believe has a right to exist.” She also has denounced Muslim leaders who oppose the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement.
Billoo has similarly supported Palestinian terrorists attacking Israelis and openly called for the destruction of the Jewish state, in a not-so-veiled threat: “From the river to the sea” is not a criticism of Israeli policy, though. It’s a call to eliminate an existing state. It is flat out anti-Semitism that is meant to intimidate Jewish students on campuses and stifle any support for Israel’s right to defend itself and exist as a Jewish state.
In April, Billoo made it clear that she was, in fact, discouraging Muslims from working with Jewish groups at large.
“We need to pay attention to the Anti-Defamation League. We need to pay attention to the Jewish Federation. We need to pay attention to the Zionist synagogues. We need to pay attention to the Hillel chapters on our campuses, because just because they’re your friend today doesn’t mean that they have your back when it comes to human rights. So oppose the vehement fascists, but oppose the polite Zionists, too.”
