Well…that little red squirrel must have some Mongoose DNA in her lineage!! LOL
The maternal instinct is likely the strongest emotion in the animal kingdom… but Nature being what it is, the ol’ snake has to eat as well…and I have seen those little red devils attack and eat newly hatched baby Robin’s in their nest…
“All of Creation will suffer due to original sin”… or so the story goes…
I think that is a misidentified snake. Looks more like a black snake than a boa. Someone will probably say the snake is the victim being attacked by the rabid Jewish squirrel.
For those who say they love squirrels, please feed them peanuts as they love them. Sometimes I am busy and forget about feeding them but after this heroic episode, I hope that I never do again. There are a few who will come upon the deck and let me feed them shelled nuts from my hand. I have never been bitten nor scratched even accidentally by one. I love my little friends and most birds also.
not to be a downer about a brave little mother one other of their favorite treats is the salt from sweat built up on your working saddle or any other leather tack you you might need handy keep it safely away from these little bandits .. squirrel by day raptures of the owl family by night always always something on the move around here .
hell has no fury like a mother guarding her young in nature from a cow moose on down the size scale ! know from experience , lucky for me elephants are not common around these parts so’s I am still here to caution any foolish nature lovers who think they know what they are getting their selfes into around them kind of hairy mothers .
I can attest to something similar. Three racoons started coming up on the deck looking so sad and begging for food so my wife and I could not say no but soon there were eight of them. Once they felt at home in the evenings, the little ones would play and unlike squirrels, racoons can be very destructive so I quit feeding them and chased them away. My sister had a similar situation as they would make their home on the top of the hay that she had for her two horses and she had to chase them away. I will say one thing about racoons which is that they are very smart and once they understood that they were unwanted, they went away.
agree on them racoon hellacious night bandits and hen house raiders don’t leave no barn doors open around here they are freeloaders , most pet dogs are no match in a one on one best know a good vet to patch up what is left of the family pet should he foolishly take on one … l hang my hat just north of the park on the yellowstone what part of this beautiful continent do you call home on the range if you don’t mind the curiosity
I live about a days drive from Yellowstone up here in the Puget Sound of Washington. Also, I haven’t seen a lot of sunshine lately but since the rain keeps the area green, one can’t complain.

Brave little squirrel but boas have to eat too.
Only if I could feed Hamza Yousef, Sadiq Khan (and other Pakistanis of my choice) to one of these supersnakes.
Yes, if only!
True enough, but the snake deserves better!!! LOL
Mama said “Not today, Satan! ” She was in it to win it!
Wow. That’s a brave little squirrel. The boa constrictor bites are not poisonous, but are painful. I hope the little squirrel recovered.

I had no idea they would let a human come so close to them. I live on the 19th floor, so we don’t see very many.

Haven’t had a problem with it in 40 years.

Unlike the Muslims.
Not even I could have conflated the two. I am amazed for you are so correct.
