Israel’s flagship carrier, El Al, said on Monday that a flight from Warsaw to Tel Aviv, which had to be diverted to Turkey on Sunday due to a serious onboard medical emergency, was refused requests to refuel by airport personnel in apparent violation of international aviation laws.
Breitbart El Al Flight LY5102 was about three hours into its journey from Warsaw, Poland, to Tel Aviv, Israel, when it declared an in-flight emergency. The plane landed at Antalya Airport on the advice of a doctor who was treating the stricken passenger.
After landing, the passenger was evacuated off the plane to a local hospital. For the next three hours, Turkish airport officials refused requests to refuel the flight as it sat on the tarmac in order to continue on to Tel Aviv and refused to allow anyone except the passenger who needed medical assistance to leave the aircraft.
The plane had to keep its engines running the entire time to provide power and air conditioning, which substantially depleted its fuel reserves.
Once the medical emergency had been handled, the plane was forced to make a 40-minute flight to Rhodes, Greece, so it could land again and refuel, then continue to Ben-Gurion Airport in Tel Aviv later on Sunday.
It would have been best if the aeroplane had NOT landed at Antalya, Turkey, but gone directly to Rhodes, Greece – it would have saved time and irritation (on the part of both the crew and the passengers).
Landing in an Islamic country should ONLY be done if there is NO OTHER CHOICE within any reasonable proximity (I’d suggest one hour’s difference). [Likely, with the plane well up above the ground, it would have involved only about 20-30 minutes difference.]
Any and ALL Islamic countries need to be considered – and treated – as ENEMIES who can NEVER be trusted under ANY circumstances!!!! [Ah, if things had gone as Mr. Ramez Fekry suggested above… Yes, basically Russo-phobia was the reason for the Crimean War, though Carj (Tsar) Ñikoláy Pávlovich Rómanov (Nicholas I) didn’t help matters by running his mouth off about how he wanted to help drive the Ottoman-Turks out of Europe – the Western Europeans (including the British Queen Victoria and the Austro-Hungarian Emperor Franz-Josef von Habsburg-Lothringen) panicked at his wild behaviour and speech… Afterwards, there were enough French and British who regretted what they had done, one of them saying “we bet on the wrong horse!…”]
It is time for NATO to expel Turkey from its membership. Turkey is the enemy.

The average run-of-the-mill Moslem in my neck of the woods, though they are perfectly amicable to me, and have no problems against my religion, is filled with foaming-at-the-mouth hatred against Jewish people, having never known one personally.

As awful as all this is, Israel is learning an important lesson. 1) Don’t do favors for other countries because no one is going to return the favor. Next time there’s an earthquake or some other natural (or unnatural) disaster somewhere in the world, stay home and take care of Israelis in need. 2) Don’t make emergency stops in Turkey — in fact, write them off completely. Israel has seen enough proof that Turkey is a rogue state and cannot be counted on for anything even resembling humanitarianism.
I recall Israel was the first to send in several medical/surgical teams to help the Turks after the last earthquake.
