My horse Louie has a tendon injury so he’s been laid up on stall rest for several weeks. I take him for a walk and to graze several times a week when I’m there, but he’s high as a kite from not being turned out and he has starting rearing up and dragging me around. He gets his final shock wave treatment this coming week, so I’m hoping he at least can be turned out in the pasture after that. Other people at the barn ask me to ride their horses for them so thankfully, I still get to ride. And yes, he still gets carrots and plenty of treats.
So sorry to hear about Louie. How he must miss running and turning! On a positive note, he will live the rest of his life in an open field, grazing grass, while making friends with other horses. You must surely miss your physical contact with him while sitting on his back, a particular energy between horse and rider.

The ones asking you to ride are the ones paying attention and they see what you are for the animal and how you interact with them, good thing then i can do this too. i live with animals most of my life then i have turned my back on humanity because they lie cheat and hurt you but an animal wont and it will allways tell you what it thinks without alot of bull around it. either the animal likes you or it doesnt. I heard that the anti pain creme mobilat helps with the pain comming from the injury.It wont heal it but it makes it bearable.

Every barrel racer or pole bending competitor that I have seen, or known, always rode Western. First time that I have seen the English/European style in competition. Probably the reason that she gave the barrels such wide berth, not neck-reigning the horse.
