I can tell you having worked in a politician’s constituency office, that under the Conservative Stephen Harper government and his pro-open-borders Immigration Minister Jason Kenney, we were fast tracking people who were ineligible for entry due to being an “undue burden” on the healthcare system. A clause in the immigration act (I seem to think it was section 38(c)1) that has been ignored for decades under both Liberal and Conservative federal governments makes them ineligible for entry.
I witnessed or processed (until I quit) unskilled immigrants who were immediately put on the liver and kidney transplant lists dispite the acute shortage of organs, and all had been yellow flagged with small yellow post-it notes with the letters “AK”. It was only years later when I saw the retired office manager that she told me “AK” stood for the “Aga Khan”.
Although not fast tracked like the “AK” cases, we also let in many, particularly from Pakistan and Bangladesh, families with one or more deformed children, presumably from first-cousin marriages.
I could not go public due to very strict NDA’s that we had to sign, so instead I quit, although I was refused any employment or retirement benefits.
Jason Kenney also prioritized people who could not afford their HIV drugs who claimed “refugee” status on that basis. From that priority of his, I made my own assumption why the never married conservative politician did so.
Because of this, even though I expect somewhat of a reduction in the numbers, I personally doubt that the excesses of abuse will stop, particularly when it comes to the Ismaili Islamic followers. And believe me, while they portray themselves as the educated moderate face of Islam, it is the same basic koran they follow with the same objectives. I have seen and heard it repeatedly from their own mouths myself.
Sorry, but this post is Anonymous, though Bonnie will have a hint who posted this.
I never met Stephen Harper, but he never fired Jason Kenney and those policies stayed until the end.
Harper was supposed to run a tight ship including on policy so I presume he approved of the policy.
I remember when Kenney let in a Polish guy who claimed refugee status for being persecuted because the Polish government would not pay for all his AIDS drugs. Shortly after that went public I had to process a few Muslim refugee claimants with wives and children who also claimed to be gay.
In spite of my major financial losses, I was glad I quit. I had no stomach for being a part of destroying Canada.
Pierre Poilievre has patiently earned the job and is the most conservative of the Conservatives, but the Conservative Party of Canada of 2024 is more like the Liberal Party of 1980, with how much things have shifted to the left.
Even the fledgling People’s Party of Canada, which is the only party talking about major immigration cutbacks, ran many Muslim candidates in the last election whom they clearly did not properly vet once I looked into their old public postings.
If Justin Trudeau keeps power in the next election, some provinces may have to break away from Canada and start their own country or join the USA. Trudeau is a very dangerous man and power hungry. Just my opinion.
Alberta already hates the central gov and has oil.
British Columbia feels like Washington.
I say we accept just those two.
We’d have a land connection with Alaska then.
Canada is doing a shit job at keeping Russian/Chinese vessels and submarines away so we’d have to step in anyway.
DO NOT ANNEX ALL OF CANADA.
MOST OF THEM WILL BE DEMOCRATS AND WE’LL NEVER WIN AN ELECTION AGAIN!
The Québecois are, if anything when it’s not a question of the independence-vs-Confederation question, even MORE LEFTIST than the rest of Canada. Ever since the days of Pierre Elliott Trudeau (who came to power in 1968), it has slowly sunk deeper into the Marxist pit…
In fact, the 1960s have become known in Canadian history as “Québec’s Quiet Revolution,” as that’s when its people turned away from the Catholic Church and many thereof started to press for separation from Canada. Worse yet, that’s when the terrorist group “Front de Libération du Québec” (‘The Front of the Liberation of Québec’ – or FLQ in short) arose, kidnapping two men (John Cross {a British citizen and trade commissioner for the UK} and Pierre Laporte {a deputy minister in Robert Bourassa’s provincial government) and holding them for ransom and as political hostages.
When Laporte tried to escape his captivity and his captors pulled him back (his captors had blindfolded and handcuffed him in addition to putting him in leg-chains), they then strangled him to death and dumped his body in the back of a car that then was left at one of Montréal’s smaller airports. It was this kidnapping and murder that triggered Trudeau senior to invoke the War Measures Act for what then was known as the “October 1970 Crisis.”
Either way, the movement soon collapsed: Cross’ kidnappers surrendered with the mediation of the Cuba government and were flown to Havana (later they moved to Paris, France, before FINALLY returning to Canada several years later to face what was a very-DILUTED “justice” – 2 years less a day in prison to each of them, alas…); just a few days before the end of 1970, Laporte’s kidnappers were tracked to a farmhouse south of Montréal and were arrested on various charges. They eventually were paroled… HOW I WISH they had been executed!!!! Trudeau instead killed the death penalty.
I’ll disagree with you: it’s the BIG CITIES (Vancouver, Toronto and Montréal plus their environs) that are the leftists’ lairs!!!!
The majority of rural (country) people are considerably more conservative; this would allow for Saskatchewan and perhaps both Manitoba and even Northern-Ontario to be fit for American citizenship.
The ones to BEWARE OF are Québec, the Maritimes and Southern-Ontario (south of Sudbury and North Bay at the topmost, Goderich-Orangeville-Newmarket-Ottawa at the bottommost). Especially the Greater-Toronto Area + Windsor, London, Cambridge, Peterborough, Kingston and Ottawa are untrustworthy, especially as that’s where Trudeau has been settling his Moslem TROUBLEMAKERS!!!! [Since I well could be accounted as being in Southern-Ontario (depending where the boundary-line be placed), I could well end up in BIG trouble…]
And as a northern Ontario francophone friend pointed out to me a couple of decades ago, the older francophone Catholics unlike Italian Catholics have a hatred of Jews, whereas Italian Catholics always supported the Jews (something I have always experienced) going back more than a century, even before Vatican II in the 1960’s.

WOW! I had no idea. Was Harper OK with that policy?
I never met Stephen Harper, but he never fired Jason Kenney and those policies stayed until the end.

Sorry to hear that. What do you think of the new Conservative Party leader now?
To be fair, Canada’s conservative party is still too left-wing for my American tastes – even Harper.
A lot of Republicans are not very conservative, too.
Pierre Poilievre has patiently earned the job and is the most conservative of the Conservatives, but the Conservative Party of Canada of 2024 is more like the Liberal Party of 1980, with how much things have shifted to the left.

Yes, but still an improvement over Trudeau.
An apple that has fallen off the tree that is rotting on the ground would make a better representative than Justin Trudeau.
I am surprised that he hasn’t renamed his birthday as a national holiday in his name!

I just heard on NYC radio that Trudeau is thinking of resigning.
He is such a narcissist, I will believe it only when it becomes official.
Is there anyone you like better there?

Well, Trump did offer to make Canada the 51st state. Maybe he can extend that offer to those provinces?
I would like to see President Trump take over Canada from British Columbia to the boundaries with Alaska.
Alberta already hates the central gov and has oil.
British Columbia feels like Washington.

I thought Quebec was more conservative than Ontario?
Sorry, dear Bonni:

I stand corrected.

I agree with your assessment.

Bonnie, we are certainly on the same page regarding this issue. If the liberals maintain power by winning the next election, we Canucks are doomed.
That’s why conservatives have to work harder than ever.
